      mono is a multi-cultural space located in
Graça neighbourhood, in the centre of Lisbon.
The project emerged as a response to the few
numbers of alternative models for cultural pro-
duction in Lisbon. mono’s main mission is to pro-
mote collective work between artists and other
cultural actors, promote national and internatio-
nal exchanges and to enrich the development of
critical thinking through questioning history, evo-
lution, innovation and humanity.

application

Please provide the following:

• fill the application form,
• a cv (max 2 A4 pages),
• a cover letter presenting you and your work (max 500words),
• a statement outlining your residency project, your motivation,
  what do you expect from the residency and what you hope to
  achieve (500 word max),
• a portfolio with a selection of 3/5 relevant projects.

Prepare one single .pdf file*, with items in the above order
and submit your application via email to:

*title: ‘Full Name_ 2020-2021’, size limit: 9MB.

Application deadline are the 1st of August 2020 for the Autumn
session and the 1st of October 2020 for the winter session.

selection process

• Candidates from all countries;
• All practices & mediums;
• Must be able to communicate in either English or Portuguese.

Applications are assessed by mono selection committee on the basis of the
submitted materials and the following criteria: professional artistic practice,
projects, and themes that are innovative, challenging, and engaging, relevant
experience in showing and discussing work, independence in conducting
work.

Selected candidates are notified of the results via email and will be in direct
contact with our team who will provide assistance with any kind of questions
that may arise prior to the beginning of the residency and arrival in Lisbon.

mono is located at rua feio terenas, 31a in the center
of Lisbon. The space can accommodate up to two
persons. The residency is close to grocery stores,
restaurants, and to public transport station.

The residency consists of a duplex apartment/studio
of 160m2 including:
• two private double rooms with their own bathroom,
• a shared studio space of 90m2,
• a shared kitchen and living room,
• a shared project room,
• access to the exhibition room and technical
   workshops.

In case you are planning to come with your partner
please let us know in advance.

         Please note that the undertaking of a residency is a commitment, with
         financial and other responsibilities related to the community of artists,
         facilities and operations here at mono.

         The team at mono is doing its best to develop the program and to sup-
         port artists and other creatives.

         The team at mono is available prior your residency period to answer any
         questions and prepare your arrival. If you have a specific project you
         would like to develop, please let us know. We will try our best to help you
         but can not guarantee the feasibility of every project.

         A 1-to-1 agreement between the resident and mono will be signed. A
         copy of that agreement can be requested in advance. The residency
         doesn’t provide the artists with flights, meals or materials.
