Parish Updates ~ July 23, 2021

COVID 19 update – beginning phase 4
We are now into Phase 4 of the Nova Scotia Reopening as planned on Wednesday, July
14, 2021.
Moving into Phase 4 results in some small changes for our parishes. Please note the
following:

   • In-person Masses, baptisms, weddings, and funerals can happen with 50% of the
church’s capacity up to a maximum 150 people indoors and up to 250 people
outdoors with social distancing and masks. Within the maximum you can have up
to 25 persons who are family and/or close contacts seated together, without social
distance. Groups seated in this way must be kept six feet from others.

Dr. Strang has confirmed that in all these instances it is import to continue to register
participants (contact tracing), maintain social distancing, and wear a mask.
With vaccine rates increasing and case numbers consistently remaining low we know that
guidelines will continue to change as our circumstances evolve. Thank you for your
patience and your vigilance. We are getting closer to our new normal! May you and your
families find the much-needed time to rest and relax during these sunny summer days. Be
well and be safe! In this year of Saint Joseph, we ask for his continued guidance and
protection over our country and our Church. Saint Joseph, pray for us!

Window Repairs

STAIN GLASS WINDOWS – St. Agnes site
The condition of all the stain glass windows were recently assessed and seven windows
were identified that required immediate attention. A generous donor stepped forward and
agreed to have two of the stain glass windows removed and repaired. (Which is why you
will notice there are two stain glass windows missing) This is a very time and labour-
intensive procedure and is very expensive. It will require about four – six weeks to
complete repairs. On average, each stain glass windows cost approximately $5,000 to
repair.
On the east side of St. Agnes Church, a routine inspection uncovered deterioration of the
concrete layer of the church adjacent to the windows. This requires immediate attention
to prevent further deterioration.

                                                                                        2

If you are able to contribute and make a donation, no matter the size, it would be greatly
appreciated. You will find envelopes at the back of the church or you can write
“windows” on a separate envelope. (Donations are tax deductible.).

OUTDOOR WINDOWS – St. Agnes site
We extend a heartfelt thank you and our appreciation to Stanko Vaci for repairing and
repainting a number of windows on the church property. Pictures can be found at the
bottom of these updates or on our website at www.goodshepherdns.com
May God bless you and reward you for your generosity!

Faithful Departed at two of our three Catholic cemeteries in August. The schedule for
these upcoming outdoor Masses are:

   • Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Sackville Dr. – Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 7:00pm.

Due to the current gathering limitations these outdoor Masses will have limited
attendance. Attendees are asked to please bring their own chair. These Masses will also
be available via livestream. The links for each Mass will be made available closer to their
August dates. In the event of rain, the Masses will be at St. Agnes Church - August 14
