ON THIS DAY IN SCOTTISH FOOTBALL
IT HAPPENED TODAY IN SCOTTISH FOOTBALL
1908 Clyde’s First Division match at home to Aberdeen was abandoned due to fog after
77 minutes, with the Dons leading 1-0. The match was eventually played on 25th
April, with a 2-2 draw watched by 3,000, one thousand more than watched the
abandoned match almost four months earlier.
1969 Kilmarnock drew 3-3 with Rangers in a First Division match watched by 32,893, the
highest League attendance at Rugby Park.
1973 Willie Ormond was appointed Scotland manager in succession to Manchester
United-bound Tommy Docherty. Ormond left his club, St Johnstone, eleven days
        later.
2001 St Johnstone sacked their players George O’Boyle and Kevin Thomas for disciplinary
reasons following the club’s Christmas party
2005 Partick Thistle appointed Dick Campbell to succeed joint managers Gerry Britton
and Derek Whyte. He was in post at Firhill until March 2007.
