PENNSYLVANIA An Elite Breeding Program Welcome to the ninth edition of the Pennsylvania Stallion Directory. This PA Stallion Directory provides statistics, photos and background on stallions standing in the state. This Directory also lists Pennsylvania Pennsylvania farms that offer boarding and foaling services. It’s an Breeding invaluable source for getting the breeding season off to a successful start! With the influx of slots revenue since 2006, money distributed on average through the Pennsylvania Breeding Fund has more than quadrupled! The Pennsylvania Breeding Fund has paid out over $28.5 million on the last nine average each of the last nine years – far and away the richest of any program in the Mid-Atlantic Region. years.” There is plenty of opportunity to earn, with an average of 400+ restricted races offered for state- breds over the past seven years. PA-Breds can race at three different tracks offering 350 days of racing. Breeders receive awards of 50 percent of the purse earned on all Pennsylvania maiden races through third place and 40 percent in all other races if the PA-Bred runner is sired by a registered Pennsylvania stallion. A breeder of a non-state sired runner will receive 25 percent for all maiden races through third place and 20 percent in all other races in Pennsylvania. The potential is there to earn money even when the horse is no longer owned by the breeder, as long as the runner races in the state. Owners also reap rewards, up to 40 percent, in all non-restricted races, paid through third place. PA-Sired PA-Breds earn 25 percent extra in all PA-Bred Stakes races paid through third place. In 2020, the total for Owner Bonuses will amount to over $4 million paid out on top of the purse! Stallion owners also benefit with 10 percent of the purse share earned for their stallion’s registered PA-Bred, PA-Sired runners in the state. Total Fund payments can exceed six figures a year for Pennsylvania stallion owners. We would like to thank the PTHA and HBPA at Parx, Penn National and Presque Isle for their dedication and support in making the Breeding Program in Pennsylvania the most lucrative in the country. 4 Pennsylvania Horse Breeders Association • www.pabred.com
