STATE ROAD CRASH RESCUE
             CHALLENGE
            Support Member Guide
                 20-23 May 2021

            SRCRC Planning Team
1.        OVERVIEW
The State Road Crash Rescue Challenge will be conducted jointly between NSW State Emergency Service (NSW SES)
and Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) to continue our relationship in the Road Crash Rescue space and provide a cross-
training benefit to both agencies. NSW Ambulance and NSW Rural Fire Service members are participating in the
exercise as part of NSW SES team.

FRNSW will be using this exercise as their Rescue Championship that is aligned with their current series of Firefighter
Championships. The design and conduct of this event will involve the Firefighter Championships Association.

2.        EVENT LOCATION
NSW Rural Fire Service, Eurobodalla Hot Fire Training Centre
Bimbimbie Road, Bimbimble (Mogo NSW).

3.        KEY DATES AND TIMES
      •    Car Cleaning – 10-14 May 2021
      •    Bump In Phase – 17-20 May 2021
      •    Symposium – 21 May 2021
      •    Exercise Day 1 – 22 May 2021
      •    Exercise Day 2 – 23 May 2021

3.1        Shift Times
There will be a daily roster issued during next week will detail exact timings each role and member.
As a guide the following times apply to groups of roles:

3.3        Allocation of Roles
•   Roles have been allocated to each member based on preferences provided through the nomination process.
•   Direction related to tasks and duties for each member will be provided by the respective
    Coordinator/Officer/Lead detailed in role descriptions.
Note: Member’s role may be change throughout the event to allow for breaks, members no longer being able to
attend, etc.

4.      REGISTRATION
•     All members attending this event will be required to register. The timing will depend on the member’s role, this
      timing is detailed in the roster attached. The start times detailed on the roster is the time that you must be on
      site at Registration.
•     Members will receive a welcome pack when they register, which will contain an accreditation card, a snack pack,
      key documents, a tabard related to your respective role (If required for the role), and a radio with accessories (if
      required for your role). An extra snack pack for each day will be issued.
•     All people involved in the exercise will be required to sign in at the event site upon arrival and sign out upon
      departure, additional equipment will be issued at time of sign in by the registration team where required.

4.1. Accreditation cards
All people involved in the exercise MUST carry the issued accreditation card with them throughout the exercise.

This accreditation card will be used as follows:
    • Electronic sign on and off each day at the event site
    • Access to areas within the event site
    • Issuing of equipment such as tabards, radios and radio accessories

The accreditation card MUST be displayed at all times with the following exceptions:

    Other members               Whilst undertaking tasks where wearing the card poses a safety risk

4.2. Observer Arrangements
•     All observers wishing to attend the Rescue Challenge will be required to register their interest prior to attending
      the day.
•     On the day, all observers must sign in and sign out at the Registration Point.
•     Any observers may observe any team / scenario from the designated observation area on each location.

5.      LOGISTICS
5.1. Parking
•     There is limited parking is available on site. The bulk of the transport to the site for support members will be bus.
•     The limited parking will be allocated to particular roles in-line with requirements.

5.2. Transport
•     There will be bus transport from the accommodation venue to the site at regular intervals in line with shift times
      to enable members to be at the right location at the right time.

5.3. Accommodation
•     Accommodation will be provided for all support members from all agencies where it is required. This will be
      funded and either organised by the planning team (All members from NSW SES NSW Police, NSW Ambulance
      ACT Ambulance and Vic SES) or by the respective member (FRNSW).
•     An accommodation matrix is attached listing the venue, allocated room and allocated dates.

5.4. Catering
•     Meals during car cleaning, bump in and bump out will be organised in-line with requirements either on site or at
      a venue near the event location.
•     Breakfast and Lunch will be provided on site during Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
•     Morning tea and afternoon tea during Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be provided as snack packs as part of the
      welcome back or upon sign in on Saturday and Sunday.
•     Catering will not be provided for observers during the event

    6. DRESS

                                       •   To wear black bike shorts/leggings/footy style shorts and tank top/black
                                           tee shirt. Outer clothing will be provided which will be cut off during the

7.      WHAT TO BRING
All members are to bring with them the following items:
• Sufficient field uniforms and other clothing as specified above
• PPE including gloves, goggles, helmet and hearing protection
• Wet weather gear
• Sun hat
• Warm clothing layers
• Spare change of clothes should be brought with all members to the event site each day.

8.      COMMUNICATIONS

•    The main form of communication during the Event will be via radio.
•    Radio communications channels will be allocated to the respective event groups at registration.
•    Anyone needing to contact the site in transit to the Challenge venue should use Zone 1 Channel 8-State-Ops 8
     for all communications.

9.    SAFETY INFORMATION

9.1. Environmental Considerations
•    The event will proceed no matter the weather. Appropriate clothing is to be worn or brought with members to
     deal with rain, wind, sun, high and low temperatures.
•    Hats should be worn throughout the event when working in open areas.
•    Sunscreen should be worn and reapplied regularly throughout the Event even if working in the shade. Sunscreen
     will be available in the catering area and on each scenario location.
•    Water will be provided in the form of water trailers to refill their supplied water bottle.
•    An energy drink bottle with replacement sachets will be provided as part of the welcome pack for all members.

9.2. Infection Control Measures
The risk of the spread of infections including COVID-19 is relatively low, the risk management plan for this Event
includes the following control measures based on current health advice, that good hygiene (hand washing and the
use of hand sanitiser), doing activities in outdoor areas and self-isolation when symptoms present are the best
control measures.
• Hand washing facilities at all scenario locations and catering areas.
• Hand sanitiser facilities located in catering area, registration area and other areas around the site.
• In close contact situations, members are encouraged to wear masks.
• Guidance on correct hand washing and use of hand sanitiser in welcome pack, handwashing and hand sanitiser
    locations.
• The majority of the event will be conducted in the open with limited close contact between members.
• Member who display cold symptoms or similar are encouraged to stay home and advise a member of the key
    contacts list below.

9.3. Exclusion areas
All exclusion areas will be marked with red/white barrier tape.

No members are allowed in these areas for any reason at any time.

9.4. Pit Boundaries
Pit boundaries will be marked with SES barrier tape or Red plastic barriers

Appropriate PPE is required when working inside these areas

    10.MEDIA/FILMING/PHOTOGRAPHY
There are likely to be a number of internal and external media crews attending the Event.
• Media/social media content will be managed by the Public Information/Production Team. Individuals can post or
   share any information/photos during the event.

• All media crews will be registered upon arrival and will be escorted by the Production Team.
• A media liaison officer has been appointed and all media should be referred to that member
The Event control team request all images and video be provided to the production team to share with other
members involved in the Event
