   The Friends of the Les Cheneaux Area Trails are a passionate group of local volunteers who enjoy and care for hiking,
biking, skiing and other non-motorized trails in the greater Les Cheneaux area. We invite everyone to explore local trails on
your own, or with us through these informal trail events. Some are guided by volunteers, while others are simple meet-ups.

Spring Morel Instructional & Hike
(First of a two-part series)

Learn everything you need to know and more about our
favorite local wild mushroom, the morel, from beloved
local naturalist, Moira “Pat” Wilson. The first part of
this series is an informal and instructional course in
April, followed up in May by an educational field trip.

Hessel School House Gallery Exhibits and Receptions
We invite the Les Cheneaux community to participate in upcoming
exhibits at the Hessel School House gallery.

Les Cheneaux Islands Community Photography will feature the
photography of Carl TerHaar and run July 1-30th.
A reception will be held on July 10th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm for all
participants.

Les Cheneaux Islands Community Painting Exhibit will boast
paintings by Diana Grenier and run from August 1-30th.
A reception will be held on Aug. 7th from 5:00–7:00 pm for all
particpants.

Roger is a well-known artist from Cincinnati, Ohio, and a long
time summer resident of the Les Cheneaux Islands. Learn what
to leave out and what to put in your painting, focusing around a
strong center of interest. Perspective and edges discussed. Bring
five photos, laptop/tablet and your choice of medium. Art Center
does not have WIFI. You may use a personal hot spot, if needed.
