AN INTRODUCTION TO HILLBRUSH
THE HISTORY OF HILLBRUSH
Hillbrush was founded in 1922 by Fred and Bill Coward. They
called their business ‘The Hill Brush Company’, because it was
located at the base of the distinctive Castle Hill you will see if you
visit Mere today.
In just a few short years the brushes they made were being
used in streets, farms and factories across the UK. From the very
beginning, the brushes were stamped with a salmon logo, born
out of Bill’s love for salmon fishing. The salmon logo not only
distinguished the business from its many competitors, but as the Original Hillbrush premises, at the base of Castle Hill
‘King of Fish’ it was also recognised as a mark of quality by all
customers, and fast became the brand of choice.
Over the years the logo has evolved but the salmon
has remained an integral part of Hillbrush, and to this
day many locals and customers worldwide refer to
the Company as ‘salmon brushes’, or ‘the fish brand’.

Platipus® Anchors Limited was founded in 1983.
The first anchoring systems were developed for
applications within the Civil Engineering and
Construction industry. Shortly after we were
approached by a leading Landscape Architect who
had the vision of creating a landscape free from
unsightly stakes. We worked closely with the
Landscape Architect and their appointed tree
nurseries and invented the very first underground tree
anchoring system capable of securing traditional Typical Construction Application

Quazar International can trace their roots back to the early 1970's when Flair Signs Ltd
was established to design and manufacture an easily transportable road sign for the
Police and Telecommunications market.
A reputation was earned for innovative and
