Roadside Litter
Every month, 50 tonnes of litter is abandoned on
Scottish roadsides, and each and every community in
West Lothian is experiencing this huge problem.
It is ugly for locals and visitors alike. It is harmful to wildlife and
environmental quality, and it’s difficult, dangerous and expensive for the
Council to clean up!
Help put an end to roadside litter: Give your litter a lift, take it home!
No matter what the excuse, littering anywhere is never okay, and
littering on roadsides is especially problematic because it is so difficult
to clean up. When on the road, keep litter in the car until you find
somewhere to dispose of it properly. It’s that simple!

West Lothian Building new council homes
Mayfield
In St. Anthony’s View in Armadale, construction of
twenty two new council homes is complete and the
keys handed over.
The development hosts a range of home types and sizes; with
one and two bedroom cottage flats, two and three bedroom
houses and a four bedroom detached house, the development is
a viable option for a range of households. The inclusion of seven
bungalows also presents options for the elderly or people with
mobility issues.
The site was not without its development challenges however; a
crop of Japanese Knotweed and a WW2 mortar bomb had to be
carefully removed before construction.
Winchburgh
The 41 new build council houses at Winchburgh have been
successfully completed by McTaggart Construction and have now
been let to tenants.
The development consists of 1 and 2 bedroom cottage flats and 3 bedroom
houses. In addition, McTaggart have built 54 new homes on behalf of West
Lothian Housing Partnership. The development has added some much needed
affordable housing options in Winchburgh.
