I am really pleased that we have progressed to a
stage where frost days are taken in our stride. It is very
unusual to hear on our first wave telephone call any
issues in regards to early morning preventive anti-icing.
The 2018/19 winter season was operationally very good.
However, we do not want to be drawn into a false
sense of security as there were very few bad snow
                                                           days over the winter season.

During the conference we will have an opportunity to
hear from our presenters what went right and what
was not so good over the winter season. We will also
have the opportunity to hear from airports on how they

COO in 2017, he was Vice President of Airport Services for Inland Technologies.
He was responsible for spent aircraft deicing fluid, environmental programs
and all other business activities at all of Inland’s airport locations in North
America and Europe. Most recently this would include regional recycling and
manufacturing of Aircraft Deicing Fluid (ADF) at Halifax International Airport,
Portland International Jetport, and Calgary International Airport.

Responsibilities included: operations oversight, project management,
equipment planning, permit negotiations, environmental compliance, policies
and procedures, business development, and contract implementation.

Roger Zbinden, Deicing Manager Swissport GVA
Roger joined Swissair in July 1980 and held various roles in passenger services
(check-in, transfer counter, lost and found, customer relations) first as an agent
then as a service manager. He has also worked in MAN, MUC, DUS, and YYZ in
different functions (aircraft coordinator, ticket agent, cargo agent etc.). Since
2006, he has been the manager for deicing services for Swissport in GVA. He is
also active in the SAE G-12 aircraft deicing group and is acting secretary of A4E

Peter has worked at Munich airport since 1996, starting as a student working in
ground handling and baggage service, leading onto working as a marshaller in
large scale and general aviation. He then moved to be a ramp supervisor at the
airside-management team, supervising special events at Munich airport.

In 2011, he started working with the Munich Airport Authority, as a terminal
duty manager. Flight operations, medical emergencies, alarms and Winter
Operations fall within his remit.

Michel Landelle, Airside Director, Paris Orly Airport
Michel has 20 years of experience in aviation, working 10 years as airside senior
manager in Paris CDG. He joined Paris Orly airport as Airside director on an
interim basis. He is an expert in winter operations in CDG for many years.

He adds value by continually improving the planning and preparation of the
winter season by analysing and making improvements in the following areas:
management of deicing supplier, deicing rate per hour, coordination with ATC,
resources audit and investment.

Specialists in Wireless Communication Systems for the Ground
Handling Industry. dBD Communications provide solutions for operations such as Pushback,
De-Icing, Maintenance, Turnaround Coordination and Support solutions.

The wireless communication products have proven to reach 150 metre distance with no disruption to
the operation and allow users to walk the length of the aircraft without any trip hazards, therefore
ensuring contact is made with the Flight Deck at all times.

Solutions can be developed around the operation team requirements such as, adding multiple users,
offering a variety of headset types most fit for purpose and designing bespoke systems. The business
offers free trials and technical support to ensure customers are satisfied and have the right solution
required for their applications.

Pushback Systems Minerva Air and Minerva Ajax allow for single or multiple pushback
operations with a range of 150m allowing the Operator freedom of movement and continuous contact
with the Flight Deck. The Minerva Ajax system has a mouth shield for higher noise environments to
reduce background noise. Systems provide 27B noise protection and have the ability to interface to a
radio.

De-Icing Systems are available for 2 or multiple users with a variety of communication
solutions. The 2 user system consists of one de-icing headset which can be linked to a preferred
product for the application, for example a tug intercom (microphone and speaker in cab), bumpstop
(single ear headset) or other different types of headsets. The multiple user system consists of cab
intercoms or headsets linked to each other from different operating lanes in order for the teams to
communicate and switch over where applicable. In open basket situations, a wireless headset is likely
preferred and in closed cab environments, a cab intercom is most suitable.
