INTRODUCTION When the first L&D Gift Guide from The Learning Guild was published last year it was heavy on presentation tools and travel helpers, categories that have been pretty much eliminated by the events of 2020. This year’s Guide, solicited from our members and via various social communities, offers new categories such as “home office” and “comfort & wellness”, as well as a section that reflects a curiously avid interest in hydration products. There are a few repeats to make items easier to find across categories. Suggestions are all from the community and there is no paid placement of any products. In the interest of making this a useful tool we’re also offering a quick checklist suitable for printing out and leaving in view of those who might shop for you. In this way we hope you receive the Oculus Quest 2 and not, through misunderstanding, a cheap toy kaleidoscope, unless that is in fact what your heart desires. We offer this Gift Guide as a way of providing some suggestions for helpful products and fun pastimes, but recognize that this has been a hard year for many of our members, in many ways. Providing suggestions for material things does not discount the importance of gifts like time for others, homemade items, charitable contributions, and good health for all. Happy holidays to members of The Learning Guild and best wishes for 2021! —Jane Bozarth 2020 L&D Gift Guide | 4

THOSE WITH AN ARTISTIC BENT Many members of the Learning Guild community are interested in visual design, and of late there’s been a good deal of activity from those wanting to learn to sketchnote, people participating in initiatives like #Inktober, etc. While this is a matter of personal preference, some of our community’s better-known artists offered ideas for great all-around gifts and starter items. “Lay flat” sketchbook Sakura Pigma Microns Faber Castell pencils Tul mechanical pencil JOT Pro stylus Pantone-themed gear Copic markers Wacom pen tablet Kevin Thorn: “You can’t go wrong Bianca Woods @eGeeking seconds the with a sketchbook. There’s millions of vote for the JOT Pro stylus, Pantone- choices but a “lay flat” sketchbook is themed gear (mugs, tablets, postcards, always a sketcher’s favorite. HOBBIES/PASTIMES LEGO Paint By Number Sets Wooden Puzzle Kits Miniatures Kits Bianca Woods: “Simple needle felting can be very calming and meditative. Also, it involves stabbing over and over, which is very satisfying when dealing with 2020. A really easy kit for getting started with needle felting is the Hamanaka triplets of Nyankoro Strawberry Milk Tiger Nike H441-367, available from Amazon and other sellers. If you try this craft, though, I really recommend using the Clover felting tool instead of the cheaper needles. Much more comfy for repeated stabbing motions.” 2020 L&D Gift Guide | 20
