CHICKEN
Sugar Feather Farms has many specialty chickens for sale and we ship nationwide
throughout the hatching season. You can mix and match your chicks in one order. We also
offer Fully Feathered birds that are off heat and coop ready during season. These are aged
5 weeks to 9 weeks and these also can be sexed. Sugar Feather Farms takes pride in
shipping healthy birds to satisfied customers.
With so many different breeds of heritage or rare breeds, you may have trouble deciding
which breed you want. To help with this decision, check out our descriptions for each
breed to see who will match well with each other. This decision is based on several factors
for your situation. Consultations for a small fee can be provided to get you off to a great
start!
All our chickens are treated with love, care and respect. We are a small farm who takes
care of our fowl. We provide excellent nutrition for our birds all Non-GMO, this way they
can be the healthiest possible. All chicks are vaccinated for Marek's Disease. If you do not
want this vaccine please note this one the order.

We are thrilled to bring you the Black Copper
Maran! We are really in love with this breed. They
are friendly, gentile, gorgeous and lay some
beautiful dark chocolate eggs. Marans lay
around 150-200 dark brown eggs each year
depending on the variety. Marans are historically
a dual-purpose bird, which means both a table
bird and egg layer. Their gentle temperaments
and quiet demeanor makes them ideal for
suburban backyard chicken keepers, as well as
any assorted farm flock as they rarely bully
smaller breeds. A great family bird. Marans have
feathered legs down through their outside toe.

heritage breed of chicken that is on the
conservancy list, an excellent layer and could be
used for meat as well, new for Spring 2021! We
settled on the Rhode Island White Chicken. This is
a bird you can have in any situation; they don't
mind confinement, gentle, and extremely hardy
birds. A heritage breed that can with the right
conditions and upbringing could be used for egg
production and used for meat. Why not use a
heritage bird for a "meat bird" instead of a

We are thrilled to introduce to our farm, The
Pavlovskaya Chicken. They have very cool origins
and are EXTREMELY rare birds in the US and even
in their native County - Russia. These birds were
on the brink of extinction until now, hopefully
with our and other breeders efforts we can work
on conserving their heritage. According to history
there were only 2 roosters left in the early
1900's.
Pavlovskaya, or Pavlovs are known to be
extremely cold hardy and have unique feathering

the harsh weather of Vermont. We would say

landrace, a Heritage Breed, which was first

chickens to Sweden and these birds then
developed into the landrace breed we know
today!
Remember a landrace and Heritage Chicken is a
domesticated chicken, which has developed by

Icelandic chickens are the ultimate all around
free-range chicken. Icelandics have much to offer
for a more self-sufficient homestead, farm or
backyard flock. While not generally suitable for
confinement, if given range to roam—whether on
pasture or in woods—they are highly skilled at
both foraging much of their own feed and
evading predators. They are not typically friendly
and cuddly bird, however with a lot of interaction
starting from chick size they can be very friendly
and chatty! They are very chatty so be ready,
one of our children is very fond of them and they
