FAIRVIEW SCHOOL DISTRICT RE-ENTRY PLAN PARENT SURVEY RESULTS May 2020 Out of the 743 families who participated in our district survey, 1353 students were repre- sented across the district K-12. Parent Survey data was disseminated by the district Admin- istrative Team and Task Force Teams to identify preferences for teaching and learning during the 2020/2021 school year. The results of the survey are below. Parents Preferred Method of Instruction for the 2020-2021 School Year The survey asked the parents to choose their preferred method of instruction for the coming school year between fully on-campus, hybrid, and fully online. The chart displays these parental preferences with 53% preferring on-campus, 36% preferring hybrid, and 11% preferring fully online. 15
FAIRVIEW SCHOOL DISTRICT RE-ENTRY PLAN PARENT SURVEY RESULTS May 2020 Parental Comfort Level with a Fully On-Campus Instruction for the 2020- 2021 School Year Parents were asked to rate their comfort level with sending their students to a fully on-campus instructional setting. A rating of 1 represents “Extremely Uncomfortable” and 5 represents “Completely Comforta- ble.” The results show that the majority (57%) of parents report a level of comfort (either 4 or 5), where around 20% report a level of discomfort (either 1 or 2). Parental Comfort Level with a Hy- brid Instruction Model for the 2020- 2021 School Year Parents were asked to rate their comfort level with sending their students to a hy- brid instructional setting, where portions of the instruction happen on campus with the remainder in an online setting. These results show a distribution of com- fort throughout our parents. A third of our parents (33%) report a level of discomfort (1 or 2) and slightly more parents (39%) report a level of comfort (4 or 5) with the hybrid schedule. Parental Comfort Level with a Fully Online Instruction for the 2020-2021 School Year Parents were asked to rate their comfort level with their students participating in a fully online instructional setting. A rating of 1 represents “Extremely Uncomforta- ble” and 5 represents “Completely Com- fortable.” The results show that the majority (61%) of parents report a level of discomfort (1 or 2), where around 21% report a level of comfort in an online setting (4 or 5). 16
