OCTOBER 2016Design Development
4.1 The design team has developed these proposals over a number of
months, engaging with the local authority’s planning department as well with
wider public consultation with the local community and statutory bodies. A
detailed description of the public consultation carried out prior to the formal
submission of the development proposals is provided within the accompanying
Statement of Community Involvement.
4.2 A key consideration is how the theme park and other elements and
features of the long term proposals can be accommodated without significant
negative effects on the existing landscape.

OCTOBER 2016 17Access
Access Principles
7.1 The proposed primary vehicular
access/egress to the site will be from a new
entrance off the A618 Mansfield Road. Access
is proposed from a ghost-island priority
junction with separate entry and exit points.
The access road provides a ‘winding down’
experience and also queuing space for
arrivals. The entrance is located
approximately 90m north of Waleswood
Road. This would lead to a central parking
area, with Gulliver’s Valley Theme Park and
Gulliver’s Adventure Theme Park feeding off
the central parking area.
7.2 A circular vehicle route would run
through the site, connecting the
accommodation areas back to the main
access and central parking areas. Off this
route, in the northern area of the site, the
Ecology and Education Centre would be built
close to the Pigeon Brook. This route
continues around the site to connect to the
Wilderness Hotel, Lodges and Wild West
Hotel.
7.3 Staff and service access would also be
gained from the A618 Mansfield Road and
emergency service access from several points
(four in total) along Delves Lane.
