Happy New Year
                                       from
                 Eupheus International School

The New Year has certainly begun with a flourish of activity at Eupheus. We have
already held our second successful parent’s afternoon. Our students are actively
engaged in all aspects of their curriculum studies and have enjoyed a day of
exploration and challenges as part of our forest school initiative. In addition we have
celebrated Chinese New Year and many other exciting developments have taken
place at Eupheus.

Parents Afternoon
Our Parents Afternoon on Wednesday 15th January 2020 offered the opportunity for
Happy New Year from Eupheus International School
all of our parents to observe the academic progress that their children have made
since joining Eupheus. Our ethos of every student aiming `to be the best they can
be` was clearly evidenced through our students Individual Record of Achievement
file. This is a unique file created for each student which records their academic
development in each area of the curriculum since their enrolment at Eupheus. It
includes copies of summative, informative and diagnostic assessments. It is this
effective assessment of our students that allowed our parents to see how we use
this information to improve teaching and learning. In turn it is integral in setting high
expectations for our students and their academic achievements.

At Eupheus we embrace and realise the need to enable our students to develop the

skills that they require for 21st century learning. It is also important that we engage
the wider school community in the use of this technology. Currently we are as a
teaching staff trialling the use of the renowned school communication platform
ClassDojo.
This is a school platform that can be used by teachers, parents and students to
develop informed communities by sharing details of the weekly curriculum and the
learning taking place in the classroom through weekly updates, photographs and
messages.
The platform uses a mobile friendly app for iOS and Android that parents, teachers
and students download on their devices.
We are looking to launch this across the whole school in March and we will of
course keep you updated.

In celebration of the Chinese New Year of the Rat on Friday 24th January, all
students and teachers working in their House Teams took part in the Eupheus
Chinese New Year Team Challenge. This involved collaborating as a team to create
a 3D tactile representative of The Year of The Rat! Teams were allowed to use any
materials available within the school to create their piece of art as long as all items
were returned at the end!! Imaginative designs were created and no item of
Eupheus equipment was left unutilised!

The artistic creations even included Chinese writing and improvised fireworks. A
truly energetic and fantastic example of team work concluded with the sharing of
Chinese fortune cookies and the reading aloud of the cookie’s predictions!
Eupheus 2020
As our inaugural year enters into its second school term, it is very encouraging to
observe all of the developments within our school.

In our multi purpose sports hall, professional adjustable basketball posts have been
delivered and are already being eagerly used by all of our students, as have our
new custom-made goal posts which can be utilised inside or out.

Our Pre-Reception and Reception class has been fitted with the latest heating / eco
friendly air conditioning unit, and it is a joy to step into the magical world of learning
through play that has been created by our new member of staff, Mrs Torcato. There
is even a medieval castle to crawl into!

The work on our Pre-Preparatory and Preparatory building is continuing at a steady
pace. The fences are complete, all of the outside areas have been cleaned and
cleared in preparation for planting and our distinctive Eupheus school signs are
clearly on display.

The building itself has all of the outside fixtures and fittings completed, including the
eco-friendly recycled floor tiles on the second level of the building. This will provide
a cushioned floor for all outside activities. Inside the building electrical work is
underway and all is now prepared for the laying of the bespoke flooring.

In line with Health and Safety regulations, and as soon as it is physically possible,
we will be moving our Primary aged students into the building. We will advise all of
our parents of the date once it is confirmed.

Eupheus International School was established by a group of likeminded visionaries
who have experience of and appreciate the demands of establishing a new school.
Eupheus has already become a renowned school within the Algarve and beyond.
We are known for our progressive educational thinking and learning, and pioneering
use of cutting-edge educational technology. We have worldwide advertising
campaigns running through Google, LinkedIn and Facebook.

This is going to be a tremendously exciting and busy year ahead for the whole of the
Eupheus community. Pupil enrolments are continuing apace. We would like to thank
everyone for their continued support and promotion of our school.
