FROM MY DESK …

We have had an action packed start to Term Four with already so many positive learning experiences. I had the ab-
solute pleasure of attending camp last week with our 3-6 students and am so proud of the way they conducted them-
selves throughout the three days. Many activities required students to get out of their comfort zones including the
giant swing and initiative course. All students participated willingly and conquered their nerves and fears! Thanks to
the students of Lal Lal Primary School and staff Siobhan, Fiona and David for an entertaining 3 days together. Our
students were able to develop some positive relationships with the Lal Lal students. A big thanks also to the staff
from Angahook Holiday Camp who were so accommodating and friendly. Thanks to Christian for volunteering his
time to drive us all to camp. Discussions have already begun for next year’s camp!
Thanks to Mrs Evans, Janine and Michelle for their efforts throughout the 3 days also. I recognise and acknowledge
the extra duties that are required when half of the school are off site. I appreciate you all!

,WRITERS FESTIVAL @ SKIPTON P.S.
Staff are looking forward to joining our school year level winners and their families tomorrow afternoon ( Thursday
17th) at Skipton P.S commencing at 5pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to recognise the writing abilities of our
students along with other local students. Light refreshments are available and all writing entries will be on display.

WALK TO SCHOOL
Students are encouraged to walk, ride or scoot to school throughout October as part of the Walk to School initiative
to promote physical activity and wellbeing. To further support this initiative, students will run/walk a lap of the oval
each day for the remainder of October at the end of recess and lunch times. We will also be walking around the
block on Wednesday October 23rd leaving the school grounds at 8:40am. We encourage families and community
members to join us. Our walk will be followed by a Healthy Breakfast funded by the Corangamite Shire. Members of
the Police force will then present a talk to our students at 10:00am.

SUMMER SPORTS
On Monday we held our annual WPPSSA 3-6 Summer Sports. The weather was perfect and it was yet another fabulous
opportunity for our students to connect with others beyond our school. Thanks to the parents, staff and students for
assisting with the organisation and running of the day to ensure its success. Thanks to the Lismore Bowls Club for will-
ingly teaching students the technique of bowls and allowing us the opportunity to use the fantastic facilities. Bowls is
always a highlight for students from all schools. It’s lovely to connect with the local community in such a positive way.
Thanks also to the PFA team for organising, preparing and cooking the lunch orders for students and staff, delicious as
always!

MOUNT ELEPHANT VISIT
Tomorrow morning our students will visit Mount Elephant. We are very fortunate to visit the mount each year and to
learn about its history and environment from the committee and Landcare groups. Students will travel on the Lismore
Community Bus, enjoy a talk and walk and have their recess snack at the mount. Derrinallum students will also join us
at the mount.
BUSES
Please note there will be no school buses running on Monday 4th November.

Enjoy your week,
Jess Kattwinkel

Last Thursday the F-2’s were involved in a cricket
clinic with Damon Williamson from the Melbourne
Renegades. The students learnt how to bowl and
practiced basic throwing and catching skills that
they could use in a game of cricket. The students
thoroughly enjoyed the session. If students are inter-
ested in playing cricket this summer, Derrinallum
Cricket Club are offering programs for all age
groups and abilities. To register , visit

3-6 Angahook Camp Recounts
My favourite thing about camp was the nitro crossing and the giant swing but mostly the giant swing. The giant swing
is 18 meters high.
Kayleb

On the first day my favourite thing was the photo trail. On the second day my favourite thing was the giant swing it
was so fun.
Lacey

Our favourite thing on camp was the giant swing, it was 18 metres high. Breeana went right to the top and Georgia
went half way so about 9 metres.
All the food was so delicious that we all wanted the recipes! We all loved Angahook Camp, the staff were great and we
all want to go back again one day.
Breeana and Georgia

Angahook was really fun, my favourite part of the camp was the challenge swing. I went to the top both times. On the
second time Chelsea was supposed to go 3,2,1, then pull the rope but she went 3 then pulled the rope. It surprised me!
