2INFERNO - THE BIG EMOTIONS
The INFERNO has developed into a classic as a devilish cult event over the 22 years.
One of the toughest triathlon courses in the world, the steepest climbs, the most
beautiful landscape, the best helpers, high safety standards and the smoothest
possible course of events - that's what we as OK and I as the new OK-President
to hold tight. Together with the approximately 900 voluntary We work to provide
athletes with the best possible conditions for competition, all year round and es-
pecially on the INFERNO race weekends.
As a former participant of half marathon and triathlon, I know about the unfor-
gettable and priceless emotions that the INFERNO and especially the arrival at the
Schilthorn trigger. Memories of highs and lows, of personal helpers, of snow and
heat, of flat tyres, falls and successes, of alpine flowers and cowbells, of loneliness
in the fog and exhaustion at the finish. With my commitment as President of the
OC, I would like, together with the OC, to make such moving moments possible
for the participants.
Holding on to the tried and tested does not mean stagnation: we want to develop the event further,
take it forward and maintain it in the Bernese Oberland. One innovation, for example, is that there
will also be a four-man start in the men's team. We would also like to accompany the athletes in their
preparations throughout the year, be it in the triathlon disciplines or in mountain running. Such training
opportunities should also reduce fears of the big challenge and make it possible to get started, for
example via the Team Trophy.
The PRO INFERNO Benefactors' Association, which was launched last year, is open to everyone who
cares about INFERNO and who would like to keep the event going and move it forward. Thank you
for your support and welcome to the INFERNO family!
High quality, safety and a unique routing characterize the INFERNO. In order to satisfy the expecta-
tions of all stakeholders, many motivated, committed people are needed, who give their best in the
background with passion and joy to ensure the annual event. My sincere thanks go to all the people
involved. A warm Merci goes also to the sponsors and patrons. Without their financial support it is
impossible to organise an event of this magnitude today.
II would also like to express my gratitude on behalf of all participants who have not forgotten the
INFERNO experiences, who share their experiences in their environment and who have become part of
the INFERNO family.
Kaspar Grünig
OC President

What would a sporting event be without volunteers? What would the INFERNO in particular be? Without
his dedicated, great host of helpers? - A commercial company with a more profit-oriented orientation
is likely - or would simply not be able to take place! For over two decades, athletes of the INFERNO
races have been able to count on a tried and tested infrastructure along the tracks and on motivated
helpers who provide them with material and emotional support. The OC would like to thank all helpers
for their willingness to help in the future so that the INFERNO becomes an unforgettable experience for
everyone. The INFERNO connects!
