At the award-winning Rainforestation Nature Park, students can experience Indigenous culture in an authentic setting in the midst
of World Heritage Rainforest. Rainforestation Nature Park first introduced boomerang throwing in 1987, and then Pamagirri
Aboriginal Experience in 1993. Pamagirri means “silent snake”, and is symbolic of the Rainbow Serpent, responsible for the creation
of the mountains and rivers in Aboriginal Dreamtime stories. This unique tourist attraction is situated five minutes from Kuranda
Village and offers numerous educational experiences with Indigenous culture.

Dreamtime Walk (30 Minutes)
Students join a Dreamtime Walk where they watch a display of traditional
spear throwing and didgeridoo playing. They can also learn the art of
throwing a boomerang and try it out for themselves. This smaller group
experience allows students to freely ask their guide any questions they may
have.

Pamagirri Dance Performance (30 Minutes)
Formed in 1993, the Pamagirri Aboriginal Dance Troupe performs a dance show in
the rainforest amphitheatre, which seats approximately 400 people. The rainforest
provides a natural backdrop for the show and serves as the theatre walls. The
sounds of the forest provide accompaniment to the haunting sounds of didgeridoo,
chanting, and clap sticks, while the dances depict the unique animals, traditional
history and food gathering of this ancient culture.

Pamagirri Rainforest Walkabout (30 Minutes)
Students join their Pamagirri Aboriginal Guide as he shares a personal insight into his ancient
surviving culture, and its connection with the oldest surviving rainforest in the world. This
in-depth and interactive experience will teach students about the traditions that were learnt in
the wilderness on the spiritual transition into manhood. They will hear about the customs that
were passed down, such as totems and body painting, before embarking on a guided walk to
learn about survival in the rainforest – the plants, fruits and berries used as bush tucker and
remedies, as well as traditional shelters, artefacts and implements.

Aboriginal Face Painting (15 Minutes)
Aboriginal body painting or art is an ancient tradition which carries deep
spiritual significance for the Australian Indigenous People. Their cultural
rituals, including body painting differ between Aboriginal tribes and
topographic location. Students can learn about these traditions and
experience face painting first hand.

This guided tour, along an all-weather walk-way, gives insight into Aboriginal traditions

demonstration and lessons from their guide, students can test their boomerang throwing
skills. Next their guide will explain how the didgeridoo is made and used in ceremonies,
then will demonstrate techniques used to play this ancient instrument. Students will also
be amazed at the distance their guide can throw spears using a Woomera during the spear
throwing demonstration.

Aboriginal Face Painting (15 Minutes)
Many Aboriginal communities have been painting their bodies for thousands of years.
During this face painting session, students learn about the significance of body painting

Duck splashes into the lake, it cruises up to the water’s edge. Students will
keep an eye out for water dragons, pythons, turtles and more!

Along the track, the Army Duck will make a stop allowing the students to
disembark and begin their tree planting experience. Students will be
planting locally sourced native rainforest species selected for their ability
to attract wildlife. Their driver will guide them within the rainforest provide
instructions on how to plant the tree and teach them about the importance
of reforestation.

Wildlife Park Interactive Tour (30 Minutes)
Students will join a guided tour with our experienced wildlife keepers and
see crocodiles, kangaroos, wallabies, snakes, dingoes, a tree kangaroo, a
cassowary and the only Tasmanian Devils in North Queensland. They can
learn more about our involvement in the ‘Save the Tasmanian Devil
Foundation’ and even hand feed kangaroos and wallabies. While getting up
close to our resident animals, the group will be learning from a dedicated
wildlife keeper.

Wildlife Up Close:
                         Environmental Adaptations

Ever wanted to know why an animal looks the way it does or has a specific
diet? Learning about environmental adaptations is made easy thanks to
Cairns ZOOM & Wildlife Dome’s Wildlife Up Close: Environmental
Adaptations.

Included in Wildlife Up Close: Environmental Adaptations includes a 40
minute presentation on the Wildlife Terrace for the whole group. Our
keepers can discuss the of snakes, lizards, crocodiles, frogmouths, frogs
or koalas – just to name a few.

The presentation will focus on the different adaptations that animals have
developed to help them survive in their habitat and within an ecosystem,
including predator and prey. Students will all have an opportunity to touch
and potentially hold some of the animals during and after the show.

Students will then have a chance to wander around the wildlife park at
leisure. If there is a specific topic or animal that you are discussing in
class and would like our keepers to cover, just let our friendly reception
team know when making your booking.

ZOOM Starter Pack
Cairns ZOOM & Wildlife Dome is the world’s first challenge ropes
course in a wildlife exhibit. Located in the heart of the Cairns CBD on
top of the Casino, it is an all-weather experience offering a range of
physical and adventurous activities for students.

With the ZOOM Starter Pack, students can experience adventure on
the Mid-ZOOM and Hi-ZOOM courses, consisting of 65 elements
including crossings, tunnels, a climbing wall, and four ziplines at
various heights and lengths, including one directly over Goliath, our
4.5 metre saltwater crocodile.

For the thrill-seekers amongst the group, the Power Jump is an
exhilarating free-fall adventure with a 13 metre drop. After a rapid
descent, the power fan provides a safe, gentle landing at the bottom.

Students can also step outside the glass walls (and their comfort
zone!) to try the external Dome-Climb. Offering spectacular views of
the city, the Coral Sea, and the surrounding landscapes, it’s an
experience not to be missed. In addition to the ZOOM course,
students have full access to the park and its wildlife exhibits.

spacious setting.

Our 30-minute interactive tour, led by one of our passionate wildlife
keepers, can be tailored to link to your current curriculum.

Please advise us of your learning goals so we can ensure your class
