       M2 NOISE IMPACT
everal constituents have approached my office with concerns about the lack of a suitable noise wall on the northern
S side of the M2 Motorway between Barclay Road, North Rocks, and Oakes Road, Carlingford. The lack of a suitable
noise wall to buffer the noise impacts of passing motor vehicles due to the construction of the slip lane from the M2
       on to NorthConnex.
The expansion of the M2 Motorway was always going to create ongoing concerns for local amenity and noise levels
currently being monitored by NorthConnex construction teams. I have been in close contact with both the
NorthConnex team and the Infrastructure Minister regarding noise levels.
At the current time they have advised me that noise levels remain within acceptable limits. However, should this
change, the NorthConnex team will immediately begin work to provide extra protection against increased noise levels
for local residents. If you believe, however, that the present noise levels are beyond acceptable limits, please contact
my office to express your concerns.

  TUNNELING ON NORTHCONNEX HITS HALFWAY
Motorists are one step closer to skipping 21 sets of lights on Pennant Hills Road,
with construction of the NorthConnex twin tunnels reaching the halfway point. Once
complete, motorists will be able to travel from Newcastle to Melbourne without
stopping at a single set of lights.
NorthConnex will save up to 15 minutes of travel time compared to using Pennant
Hills Road, letting people spend more time with their families and less time in traffic.
At present, 20 roadheaders are working 24 hours a day, seven days a week to deliver
this long overdue piece of vital infrastructure which will form part of the National
  Highway route.
Almost 11 out of 21 kilometres of future road has been excavated with the project
on schedule to deliver congestion relief to the thousands of motorists currently
stuck in traffic on Pennant Hills Road each day. Tunnelling is progressing at around
400 metres per week with light at the end of the tunnel for motorists. NorthConnex
will bring enormous benefits to our local area by taking around 5,000 truck off
Pennant Hills Road every day and returning Pennant Hills Road to local drivers.

POWER SAVINGS TO BENEFIT HOMES
                     AND BUSINESSES IN BAULKHAM HILLS
Households and businesses in Baulkham Hills will be rewarded for modifying their power consumption this summer
   through demand management.
The NSW Government's $7.2 million investment in this initiative is another step to ensuring a reliable electricity supply
   for the people of NSW
The program rewards participating households and businesses that voluntarily reduce their consumption through batteries
   and smart appliances.
These initiatives will see advanced technologies introduced to thousands of NSW homes and businesses to help them
   save energy and money.
The NSW Government is acting to minimise the risk of disruption to household electricity supply during high demand
   periods this summer.
The demand response trial is being jointly run with the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) across NSW, Victoria
and South Australia, with a total of 200 MW of electricity to be available by 2020.

EXCELSIOR PUBLIC SCHOOL
         14 NEW CLASSROOMS
Excelsior Public School is set to receive 14 new permanent classrooms,
a new library and open play area as part of a multi-million dollar upgrade
         from the NSW Government.
The upgrade will include a new three-storey classroom block and the
refurbishment of existing facilities, which will increase the school’s capacity
from 500 students to around 650 students.
Over the next two years alone, work will start on new schools and upgrade
projects worth more than $2.2 billion. The upgrade at Excelsior Public School will
help meet increasing student enrolment numbers in the local area.
It’s vital our local communities have the school facilities they need to provide the
best education possible for our students. I am pleased the NSW Government is
investing in local schools in our area and delivering this important project.
Planning is also underway for the new 1,000 student primary school at Bella Vista, and
new permanent teaching spaces and core facilities at North Rocks Public School.

     IBM SITE ON COONARA AVENUE
I have been in close contact with residents in West Pennant Hills regarding the
development proposal at the IBM site on Coonara Avenue. Several uses for the site,
including a school, have been proposed by residents and I am open to considering
any outcome which benefits the local community. While I share the desire of
residents to see an ideal outcome, the land remains privately owned and any
outcome relies on Council zoning decisions and any future development application.
That being said, it cannot be overstated, with any planning and development, I have
always maintained that there needs to be adequate infrastructure and facilities in
place to support the foundations of a sustainable and prosperous community first
and foremost, especially when taking into account medium and high-density
dwellings. This will always be my position, regardless of where any development is
proposed within the Baulkham Hills electorate.
