Process: Practices will be available in the venue as of Wednesday, March 11 . Practice times will
be assigned according to seed. Each practice will be 55 minutes in length, and an hour long
practice for game day. The higher seeds will have first pick of their practice time on Wednesday,

March 11 , then the second seed, etc. Teams will be contacted Sunday evening by the Host
Committee to arrange practices.

Schedule: Teams will dine in their dedicated pre-assigned team rooms. Teams must be lined up outside
of the ballroom doors to be marched into the main ballroom at 6:45pm to join all the other dinner guests

B. MEDIA ACCREDITATION
Media should visit the U SPORTS University Cup Webpage to register for Media Access at the
tournament. There will be a Media Services area with printing and working spaces available.

4. CHAMPIONSHIP HOTELS
U SPORTS policy 20.40.3.4.1:
All participating teams and team personnel attending a U SPORTS Championship requiring
accommodations must stay at the U SPORTS Championship designated host hotels. Each team will be
provided a common room in the hotel for team meetings and meals. Subsidy hotels and subsidy meals
end when the team is eliminated from the competition.
The Host Committee will provide ten (10) complimentary hotel rooms (double occupancy) for each team
participating in the championship daily from Wednesday through Sunday. Additionally, each participating
team will be provided a private meeting room to host team meetings and meals. Additional rooms will be
available through the host hotels at the event rate of $149 plus HST per night.

Meals: Team meals can be ordered through the hotel contact and enjoyed in the complimentary team
meeting room at the hotel. This room will serve as the team’s dining room for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The Host Committee will provide complimentary twenty (20) meals during each dining session at the hotel
from Wednesday through Sunday, while the team is participating in the championship. All meals must
be arranged by each team. Complimentary meals are discontinued when the team is eliminated
from the competition.

5. TEAM TRANSPORTATION

C. ON-SITE TRANSPORTATION
Coach Atlantic Rates for Transportation via 56 Passenger Motor Coach Bus
Airport Transfer - $725.00 + HST (15%) + Fuel Surcharge (5%) + Tolls per transfer (this is based on our 4
hour minimum and each additional hour is an extra $175.00 + HST)
Day Rate - $1,595.00 + HST (15%) + Fuel Surcharge (5%) + Tolls (this is based on our 10 hour minimum
and each additional hour is an extra $160.00 + HST)

6. TEAM REGISTRATION AND ACCREDITATION
A. TEAM ACCREDITATIONS
Teams will receive their accreditation passes and registration information upon arrival at the hotel. Each
team will receive 30 accreditation gift packs. Any additional passes must be requested in advance of the
championship. Please arrange for additional passes through your team host. An additional cost of
$60+hst will be assessed for any additional passes required.
Accreditation passes will be provided, at no charge, to:
-Visiting sports information directors
-Non-participating head coaches
-Athletic directors and other university VIPs
-Non-participating coaches and athletes whom are U SPORTS winners or nominees
Entry to Scotiabank Centre for teams and their travelling group is via the security door on Carmichael
Street.
B. ACCREDITATION PICK-UP
Teams will receive their accreditation passes and registration information upon arrival at
the host hotel.

7. TEAM SERVICES
A. TEAM HOST
Each team will be assigned one of two Team Hosts who will assist the team during their stay in Halifax.
B. TEAM MEETING ROOM
Each team will be provided a complimentary team meeting room at the hotel for meals and coaching
sessions. Teams are encouraged to bring a projector with them for viewing footage. A TV for reviewing
game footage can be requested at a cost from the hotel desk.
C. ATHLETE NUTRITION ROOM
Snacks and nutritional items will be provided to athletes in the warm up area near their dressing rooms.
Teams are required to bring their own gatorade to the event, we will provide barrels.
D. HOCKEY HOUSE PROGRAM
Each team participating in the tournament will be assigned a Hockey House where they are welcome to
gather throughout the course of the tournament.

9. TECHNICAL INFORMATION
A. VENUE
Scotiabank Centre is the largest multipurpose facility in Atlantic Canada and the hub for major events in
Nova Scotia. They serve as the region's premier venue for sports and entertainment. The facility is
proudly home to the Halifax Mooseheads, the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo, the Halifax
Thunderbirds and the Halifax Hurricanes. Since opening, the Scotiabank Centre has hosted over 30 U
SPORTS Championships.

B. EQUIPMENT
Equipment can be left in the team's locker rooms. There will also be 8’ x 8’ fenced in storage areas
available for each team.
Two warm up areas will be assigned to teams on a rotational basis, depending on the teams playing.
Services will include snacks, cardio bikes, and stretching mats. Teams should bring their own water
bottles.
There is no skate sharpening capability on-site. Teams are advised to bring portable skate
sharpeners.
C. UNIFORM LAUNDRY
Team uniforms, game warm-ups, and practice uniforms will be laundered, beginning Wednesday, March

11 . Laundry will be picked up from dressing rooms after practices and games and returned to the team’s
dressing rooms. Each team should provide two (2) hockey bags with team identification for
laundry. Personal items such as underwear and socks worn under equipment shall be placed in
mesh bags with tags noting the team.

D. LOCKER ROOMS
Each team will be assigned a dressing room prior to their arrival. Dressing rooms vary in size and
assignment will be based on seeding, with the exception of the Host Team locker room. Equipment may
be stored in the dressing rooms over the tournament, and keys to the dressing room will be held by the
team hosts.
10. MEDICAL SERVICES
Athletic therapists or Physiotherapists will be on-site during games ONLY- not during practice times.
Sports medicine physicians and dentists will be available on call for the duration of the tournament.
Emergency First Aid supplies will be available at the competition venue but teams should be responsible
for their own tape, wraps, ect. Taping tables will be provided at the competition venue. If needed, supplies
can be purchased through the host Physiotherapist on a charge back basis.
A full medical brief will be provided with the team welcome package at registration and during the
Technical Meeting.
