• NZSIA Level 1 & 2 exam fees You get a guaranteed casual contract with Mt Ruapehu Snowsports
• Full season lift pass for the duration of the season. Hours are allocated based on demand,
• 23 days of on snow ski performance training throughout the season so busy weeks will provide more work than non-busy weeks. The
• Staff Uniform harder you work and prove yourself, the more hours you will be
rewarded with in general. Wages are around $16 an hour. When work
is not available, you will have an opportunity to act as an assistant
instructor, shadowing someone more experienced. You would not
get paid for this, but it will improve your own teaching ability and the
experience is invaluable.

NZSIA LEVEL 1
Qualifies you to teach novice and early intermediates skiing or
snowboarding. For plenty of people this is all you will need in
terms of a qualification that you will use, for others it’s just one
of the required stepping stones enroute to level 2 and beyond.
NSZIA LEVEL 2
For instructors that want to start taking a career in snowsports
seriously this is your next step. Level 2 riders have a competent
knowledge, ability and understanding to safely teach skiing or
snowboarding to an intermediate standard on marked pistes
and start to venture off trail and into the park.

Looking at the statistics alone it’s a no brainer that if you are serious about
snow this is the place to do a New Zealand season. The whole area is in
Tongariro National park, New Zealand’s largest park, and the setting for a lot
of the lord of the rings movies; Mt Doom is just around the corner. One of
the best things about New Zealand is that you can have an epic day on the
mountain then head back down to town (Ohakune) where there is rarely snow
and you can do all kinds of warm weather activities.

LODGE LIVING
IN THE HEART OF

Ticket to Ride is based in the town of Ohakune, the centre of skiing
on the North Island and our accommodation is right in the main town
centre. The accommodation is 17 kms from the base of the ski lift and it
is about 20 minutes drive on a good weather day.
We have a lodge style accommodation complete with a kitchen, some
ensuite rooms and some with shared bathrooms and a common area to
chill in. Rooms are twin, triple or quad share with the option to upgrade
to a single. The lodge also has a bar and café on site and you can
venture to the nearby selection of Ohakune’s bars and restaurants.
