however, some operations are limited. Buying cryptocurrencies is currently
only available for EU residents that are within the SEPA. This means most
EU members plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and Monaco.
Users outside the EU can use their account to store and send crypto. They

announces it has closed Europe’s largest Series A funding round of 2020 by
securing $52 million from Valar Ventures. The large-scale investment will be

● March 11, 2020, announced that SEPA Direct Debit is now available as a

● January 30, 2020 Bitpanda Brexit Campaign – with over more than 100
billboards and city lights in the centre of the financial district in London, in

● January 12, 2020 Oliver Stauber joins Bitpanda as the new Chief Legal
O cer. A member of the FinTech Advisory Board of the Federal Ministry of
Finance and current CLO, Oliver will oversee all legal matters across the

● January 10, 2020 Bitpanda is fully compliant with AML5. The new directive
stipulates that operators of platforms through which cryptocurrencies are

Eric Demuth is an entrepreneur with an eSports background. Whilst being active in
the financial industry in London and Vienna since 2009, he also founded his first
company. Frustrated by how hard it was to buy and sell cryptocurrencies like
Bitcoin, he co-founded Bitpanda. Before all this, he travelled the world on
Hapag-Lloyd container ships while working as a ship’s mechanic, followed by

Christian Trummer is a software developer and entrepreneur. After founding three
software companies and being involved in the crypto community since 2012, he
co-founded Bitpanda together with Eric Demuth and Paul Klanschek in 2014. As
the CTO of Bitpanda, he oversees all aspects of development. Christian is a
respected expert in his field and well known within the European crypto dev
community.
REGIONAL MANAGERS
Elbruz Yilmaz is MENA Managing Director at Bitpanda and brings years of
experience in the financial industry. In his position, he now focuses on the Turkish
market where he is responsible for driving growth by taking the first steps on the
ground and leveraging his personal network to manage and establish relationships.
Previously, Elbruz worked in consulting, investment management, software and
telecom industries across the US, Europe and Middle East. His experiences include
3TS Capital Partners, BTS & Partners, PIWorks, Inovent, Balance Innovations, KTEC
and ATC. Elbruz studied Economics at Ege University in Turkey and received his
MBA from Pittsburg State University in the United States. Elbruz spends most of
his free time working closely with entrepreneurs, reading, researching and writing
anything and everything about tech startups, venture capital and entrepreneurship.
Alejandro Zala is Country Manager Spain. Born in Madrid, Alejandro graduated in
Business Administration from ICADE and has a Master in Digital transformation at
ISDI. Alejandro has developed his career in investment banking across di erent
areas (Private Banking, Asset Management, M&A, Project Finance, Equity
investments and Corporate Loans), in top tier banks (Santander, JP Morgan, and
Arcano) and across di erent countries (USA, UK, Brazil, and Spain). In the last
years, he has been in the product development team at Openbank (Banco
Santander digital bank) and has also been active in the Spanish startup ecosystem
and involved in several entrepreneur projects, such as the neo-bank Bnext.

10Giulia Mazzolini is half French and half Italian and joined Bitpanda as Country
Manager for France at Bitpanda. She will primarily be focusing on driving growth in
France. Prior to joining Bitpanda, Giulia worked 2 years at Bloomberg in London.
She was part of the sales team covering French speaking territories such as
France, Switzerland, and Monaco. She also has experience working with
entrepreneurs, particularly in Fintech. Giulia spent one year building a program
helping startups with fundraising in London and Paris.
