2019: Year of the Bowtie

2019 is the year of the Bowtie! Dedicated to
Mayor Dick Church, Jr., we will celebrate his
final year in office after serving the Miamisburg
    Community for 28 years.

This festive campaign will be carried throughout
2019 in our PLAY Miamisburg Magazine & by
the Parks and Recreation Department. Mayor
Church will be highlighted in PLAY with the
"Bowtie Corner". In addition, look for programs,
activities and events containing the Mayor's
    signature bowtie.

The department is proud to pay tribute to the
Man and the office that has done so much for the
City of Miamisburg. Mayor Church’s initiatives
include the development of the downtown
corridor and Riverfront Park, the ecological
clean-up of the Mound industrial park and the
planning and building of the Sycamore Trails
    Aquatic Center.

DID YOU KNOW? Mayor Dick Church Jr. was
appointed to the Miamisburg Recreation Board
in 1967 by Mayor Harold Haklik. He continued
to serve on this board as the chairperson until
    1980.

Center Renovations!
The Parks & Recreation Department is excited about
the positive changes to the Miamisburg Community
Center to allow better service to the community. Our
facilities staff have been hard at work updating and
modernizing the Center.

The most noticeable change is the fresh coat of paint
on nearly every wall in the Center. The color pallet
consists of creamy neutrals and modern grays to
compliment the new modern décor.

Our fitness equipment has been moved from the
basement to a beautiful sunny location in the East
Wing, which has updated flooring and a new large
picture window (photo 1 & 3). Round tables have
been introduced to the West Wing instead of the
banquet-style tables to allow the space to be more
versatile and are easier to move for any dynamic
programming needs. Also, a modern, easy-to-use After:
sound system and projector have been installed in
the West Wing as well.

Nearly all fluorescent lighting has been upgraded
to LEDs – more energy efficient, and much brighter!
The meeting spaces in the Center have also received
updates, including new furniture. Office spaces
located in the Community Center have been
re-assessed, allowing for a childcare room to be
introduced which offers a trained professional to
provide childcare while parents, grandparents, and
other guardians utilize the many programs we have
to offer.

This is all just the beginning! More changes are to
come… stay tuned!
