STALLIONS 2019 - Rathbarry Stud
Welcome to Rathbarry & Glenview Studs 2019
           Dear Breeders
We welcome everyone in the equine world to share our Stallion Brochure for 2019.
We have just come through a tough yearling sales campaign where horses that failed to match strict criteria of pedigree and confirmation fell into a
deep crack in the market. It is obvious, therefore, that breeders need to focus on quality and value when considering their 2019 mating plans and we
hope that the contents of our brochure will be of assistance to you in this regard.
We are delighted to have acquired JAMES GARFIELD to add to our stallion roster for 2019. This very precocious 2 year old first showed his abundant
talent when a fast finishing third in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot before recording a commanding victory in the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes
at Newbury. He began his 3 year old season with a win in the Group 3 Greenham Stakes, beating among others, Group 1 winner Expert Eye. He
then just got collared on the line in the 20 runner Group 1 Prix Maurice de Gheest beating 5 Group 1 winners in the field. JAMES GARFIELD is a son
of leading shuttle stallion and increasingly important sire of sires, Exeed And Excel out of the Royal Ascot 2 year old winning mare Whazzat. This colt
boasts a page rich in stallion potential, as Whazzat is out of a half sister to Rafha, the dam of deeply influential sires Invincible Spirit and Kodiac and he
should prove to be a great addition to the stallion ranks in the world.
This past 12 months has proven to be a vintage year for the ever popular ACCLAMATION, with his daughter Marsha realizing a record breaking 6
million guineas at Tattersalls Mare Sale and his son Expert Eye becoming only the second European trained horses to win the Group 1 Breeders’ Cup
Mile. ACCLAMATION is one of the most attractive and commercial stallions at stud today.
Limato, competing at the highest level, has again proved to be a great advertisement for TAGULA in 2018 and his progeny were again in great
           demand at the sales.
MOOHAAJIM’s first 2 year olds made a very encouraging start on the racecourse. To date his progeny have achieved a remarkable ratio of almost
           80% Winners/Placed horses to runners.
As we write, KODI BEAR’s first crop of foals are being prepared for the sales. Reports to date have been very encouraging so we are hoping that their
prices will repay the breeders who have supported him in his first season.
Our attractive roster of National Hunt Stallions at Glenview Stud, MALINAS, SHIROCCO and SHOLOKHOV have all had the distinction of siring some
very successful progeny before their arrival in Ireland. The first GB conceived crop of MALINAS are now 4 year olds and are beginning to make their
mark in point to points and on the track. Similarly the first Irish conceived crop for SHOLOKHOV are also 4 year olds. They were purchased by
some leading trainers and agents and their feedback has been very positive. SHIROCCO has had massive support from breeders since his arrival in
Glenview in 2014 and we are really looking forward to seeing his first crop of Irish conceived 4 year olds on the racecourse in 2019.
We were very unfortunate to lose our lovely young stallion, KARPINO, early in the 2018 season, but we were very fortunate to secure YOUMZAIN as a
           very capable replacement.
This brilliant dual Group 1 winner of €4.5 million had already sired stakes winners on the flat and over jumps in each of his crops. He also boasts a
proven successful pedigree as his half brother Creachadoir, also a Group 1 winner, is already the sire of stakes winners, most notably, Footpad, 6 time
Group 1 winner over hurdles and fences. We were delighted with the immediate and positive response shown by breeders and he will have a very
sizeable crop of foals to look forward to in 2019.
We wish all our patrons a very successful 2019 and invite you to pay us a visit at Rathbarry & Glenview in the near future.

Undoubtedly the best son of Royal Applause has been the fine sprinter Acclamation, among whose
