Surveillance Report
As of February 15th 2020:
• Over 108.6 million COVID-19 cases and over 2.39
  million deaths have been reported worldwide.
• 285,868 cases of this illness confirmed in Ontario,
  including 6,693 deaths

Move to Red-Control
• As of today (February 16) London and
   Middlesex County are no longer under
   the Province’s Stay-at-Home order and
   are instead under the Red–Control level
   of Ontario’s revised and strengthened Coronavirus Response
   Framework.
• This will continue to apply for at least two weeks at which time,
  the government will assess the impact of public health and
  workplace safety measures to determine if the region should
  stay or be moved to a different level of the framework.

COVID-19 Vaccine Update
•   Huron Perth Public Health, Middlesex-London Health, and Southwestern
    Public Health have provided a first dose of vaccine to nearly all eligible
    individuals.
•   See MLHU website for Update on Regional Prioritization of COVID-19
    Vaccine.

CONSIDER working group
• The COVID-19 Vaccine Safety Questions and Healthcare Providers
  (CONSIDER) working group aims to answer questions about COVID-19
  vaccine safety for healthcare providers and key stakeholders.
• Each answer is written by an expert member of the working group and
  reviewed by two or more other members.

COVID-19 Projections
The Science Advisory and Modelling Consensus Tables
projection update on February 11 for COVID-19 provided the
following key findings;
    • More than 426,800 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been
      administered in Ontario
    • There are outbreaks in long-term care facilities in 25 of
      Ontario’s 34 Public Health Units
    • Public health measures are helping to reduce the
      number of COVID-19 cases, as well as positivity rates and
      hospitalizations
    • ICU occupancy is flat

COVID-19 Projections
• More cases associated with the B.1.1.7 Variant of Concern
  (VOC) are being reported
   •   Case numbers will likely increase in late February with ICU admissions
       increasing afterwards
   •   To prevent an increase in the total number of COVID-19 cases, the
       Reproductive Rate (Re) for this variant needs to remain below 0.7.
   •   Note: On February 11, the Chief Medical Officer of Health reported 12
       health units had detected COVID-19-positive VOCs, and that the
       dominant VOC strain circulating is the B.1.1.7.
• Aggressive vaccination efforts and following public health
  recommendations will help avoid a third wave of COVID-19
  cases and a potential third provincial lockdown.
• Some key mental health indicators remain unchanged;
  however, emergency department admissions, opioid deaths
  and health indicators for eating disorders are worsening.

MLHU data reporting
• The transition of the Middlesex-London Health Unit’s
  online COVID-19 reporting dashboard to Ontario’s
  Salesforce case and contact management system has been
  completed.
• To provide better alignment with the province, the Health
  Unit has moved from reporting “recovered cases” to
  reporting “resolved cases” and “active cases” instead.
• The data dashboard is updated at 12:00 p.m. daily and may
  differ from other data sources, depending on the time their
  data is reported or extracted.

New COVID-19 testing location
• A new COVID-19 testing location in London
  has opened at 1835 Dundas Street, East.
• To find a COVID-19 testing location and
  eligibility criteria please visit https://covid-

School Update
• Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health
  announced that public schools will delay their
  March break until April 12-16, 2021.
• Private schools have been advised to postpone
  their March breaks as well.

Testing for travellers
• COVID-19 testing for travellers coming into Canada by air and land
   – As of February 15, 2021, all air passengers five years of age or older,
     including Canadians, are required to show a negative COVID-19
     molecular test result taken within 72 hours prior to boarding any
     scheduled flight to Canada.
         • Before departure they are required to use ArriveCan app
         • Officials with the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) will test traveller
           upon their arrival at a Canadian airport
         • These travellers will be required to stay in a hotel (at their expense) for a
           maximum of three days while awaiting their test results.
    – As of February 22, 2021, all travellers five years of age or older, including
      Canadians, arriving to Canada by land will also be required to use the
      ArriveCan app, receive a molecular COVID-19 test upon entry, and be
      retested on day 10 of their quarantine period (at their local testing
      centre).

Influenza
• As of February 10th, there have been no
  laboratory-confirmed influenza cases
  identified in the Middlesex-London region
  since August 30th, 2020;
• a few other regions in Ontario have
  reported sporadic influenza activity this
  season.
