Booking Options
  Tee Time:

Tee time groups, start their game of golf under the traditional consecutive tee time
format, running on 10 minute intervals and is ideal for those groups with 16-144 players.

  Shotgun:

A shotgun start refers to a method in which every golfer begins at the same time but on
different holes. This is a great format for groups upwards of 144 players that require
exclusive access to the golf course because it allows every player to complete their game
at the same time. With a full field start times begin at 8:00 am or 1:00 pm.

  Modified Shotgun:

A modified shotgun is a starting method that has the same benefits for those who are
looking for a shotgun start but do not have the required numbers to do so. Whenever
possible Dakota Dunes will offer modified shotguns to groups with 80 to 120 players.
All modified shotguns start at 1:00 unless otherwise approved by Dakota Dunes Golf
  Links.

Note: To qualify as a “tournament” or “outing” under any one of these booking formats,
your group must consist of at least 16 players, and adhere to the conditions outlined in
  this planner.

Tournament Services
o Date: Before you get too far into the planning process, finalize your date(s). The course availability and booking price
     may vary by date.
o Players: Consider the minimum and maximum expected players and communicate this to the course to ensure that
you have the right starting time and format to be successful.
o Budget: Balance the course fees, meal cost, prizes, etc. with the fee that you will charge your players or teams. If your
event is a fundraiser, feel free to consult our tournament coordinator for ideas.
o Contract: The tournament contract defines your payment obligations and deadlines, and outlines important
     information about your event.
o Starting Time: Make sure that the starting time you choose will accommodate play for all of your guests, and allow
them to finish in time for any meal or banquet plans following the round.
o Format: Format refers to your starting format (tee time or shotgun start) as well as the format for play such as
individual stroke play, team scramble, modified scramble, or another game that your guest will enjoy.
o Food & Beverage: Consider the many Food & Beverage options for your players. Selections are available before,
during, and after play. Our tournament coordinator can assist with ideas and catering planning.
o Hole Signage: Many tournaments/outings sell sponsorship signage for additional fundraising. Sign holders are
provided and service staff can locate signs around the course.
o Cart Signage: Cart signs on every golf cart will display the individual or team name of the players assigned to that
cart, as well as their starting time or hole assignment for shotgun starts. Some events use this as an additional
sponsorship opportunity by displaying a company name or logo on the cart signage.
o Volunteers: Consider the number of volunteers you will need for registration, specialty holes, hole-in-one spotters,
     etc.
o Tee Gifts: Many tournaments/outings provide a gift for every player upon registration. This is a great way of
providing value up-front. Gifts range from small donated items (water, tees, golf balls) to more valuable items like
sunglasses, golf shoes, clothing, or commemorative prints.
o Specialty Holes: Specialty holes range from the standard “closest to the pin” or “long drive” holes, to the more
creative events like dice games and celebrity greetings. Specialty holes can add interest and provide additional
     fundraising opportunities.
o Hole-in-One: Many larger tournaments/outings purchase hole-in-one insurance to award cash or a vehicle to anyone
that makes a hole-in-one. Minimum yardage and a volunteer spotter will be required by the insurance coverage.
o Scoring: The chosen format will determine how your players keep score. Our tournament coordinator will provide
personalised scorecards, and assist with the collection and tabulation of the results.
o Prizes: Remember to consider whether or not you will be awarding prizes for play. Many events have gone to a prize
draw format. Either way, plan for a means of distributing prizes if any.
