Welcome to West Stockwith!
Dear New Resident(s)

The Parish Council would like to welcome you to the village and we have put together this

days and weeks a little easier.

Firstly we would like to introduce ourselves:

Mark Beecroft, Misson House, Main Street

Ian Cruikshank, River View, Main Street

Jonathon Downes, Stradbroke House, Main Street

The Parish Council holds its meetings in the Gertrude Morris Hall, Main Street, at 7.30 pm on
the second Thursday of every month, excluding April, August. You are very welcome to
attend any of the meetings, particularly the Open Forum at 7.15 pm at which you can bring
matters to the attention of the Council. Once a year in April the Parish Assembly is held; this
is the meeting at which parishioners can participate.

A list of the dates of the meetings can be found on the Parish notice boards and a Notice of
Meeting will be displayed at least three days prior to each meeting.

There are two charities operating in the village for residents, namely:

Huntington’s Charity
Many of you may know of this Charity due to the Christmas gifts that it makes each year
to people over 65 and those children of primary school age, namely Year 1 through to
Year 6.

It also gives additional eleemosynary grants to those people with special needs; this could
be to help with additional expenses caused by an illness or to help young people in higher
or further education with the cost of purchasing of books and/or equipment needed for
their courses.

If you think that the Charity could assist you, please contact either:

• Pam Chipp Millstones, Mill Lane, Walkeringham Tel: 07971 123005
• Helen Hartnell Laburnum House, Main Street Tel: 01427 890042

If you would prefer to make initial contact by email, the Charity email address is:
                           huntingtonscharity@hotmail.co.uk

Finally with regard to the Christmas gifts, the criteria used are as follows:

    • Due to, or have already, reached either the age of 65 or 80 (the value of the gift
rises when people reach this age) before the end of 2013

    • A book token for children at primary school

If you believe you are entitled to either of the above, and have not received anything by
Christmas Day, please inform the trustees on the above email.

Wells’ Charity
This is a very small charity in comparison with Huntington’s and concentrates on one area
of giving, namely helping parents with the cost of purchasing uniforms when their child
moves from primary to secondary school. If you think that this Charity could help you,
please contact:

• Helen Hartnell Laburnum House, Main Street Tel: 01427 890042
