      THE SECRETARY’S OFFICE AND WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED BY THE STEWARD AT THE RING SIDE.

RULES AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

1.    This Show is affiliated to the British Show Pony Society and all persons entering, competing,
      showing or otherwise taking part in the B.S.P.S. Classes, whether or not Members of the B.S.P.S.
      are subject to the Constitution and Rules of the B.S.P.S., including disciplinary procedures, and
      shall be deemed to have consented to the jurisdiction of the B.S.P.S.

2.    Neither the BSPS Scottish Branch Committee, nor any of its Officers, Servants, or Assistants shall
      be responsible or accountable for any loss, injury or damage to any person, animal, or property
      in connection with this Show.

3.    Each Exhibitor shall abide by and accept as final the decision of the Judges, Referees, Chief
      Steward and Officials of the Show.

4.    The Judges listed in the Schedule have accepted our invitation to Judge, but the Committee
      reserve the right to appoint substitutes should any Judge withdraw.

5.    No Exhibitor may knowingly show a pony under a Judge in circumstances that would constitute
      a breach of Rule 477 by the Judge.

6.    Any pony taking part in Classes judged under B.S.P.S. Rules will be liable to dope testing.

7.    Entries will not be accepted without the appropriate fee. A S.A.E. must be submitted with entries
      if a receipt is required. No numbers will be sent to Exhibitors prior to the Show. Competitors’
      numbers should be collected from the Secretary’s Office on the Show Ground. Cheques and
      Postal Orders to be made payable to B.S.P.S. SCOTTISH BRANCH. NO entries will be accepted
      over the telephone.

8.    NO REFUND OF ENTRIES WILL BE MADE, except in the event of unforeseen cancellation of the
      Show, when a £5.00 levy will be deducted from each entry to cover Administration costs.

10.   In ALL Classes, correctly secured British Standard Skull Caps/Riding Hats, numbers All
      PAS015, VG1, (BS) EN1384 2017, ASTM F1163 04a onwards, SNELL E2001, SNELL
      E2016AS/NZS 3838 2003        onwards, MUST be worn by riders at all times when mounted.
      Hats should have a plain cover either Black, Navy Blue, Brown, Grey or Green. Velvet covers are
      encouraged.
      BSPS SCOTLAND ACCEPTS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY INJURY ARISING FROM A
      FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THIS REGULATION. HAT CHECKS FOR COMPLIANCE WILL BE
      MADE.

11.   Under no circumstances will entries be changed, substituted or amended once         received.

12.   Only animals entered in classes at the BSPS Scotland Winter WHP Show 2018 may use             the
      arenas for exercising.

13.   Only tack permissible under BSPS rules may be used whilst mounted anywhere on the
      showground.
14.   On the day entries will be taken from 8.00am

15.   Rule 67 - No member of the BSPS shall conduct himself in a manner or be guilty of
      behaviour which is derogatory to the character or prejudicial to the interests of the BSPS and in
      particular (but without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing) no Member shall behave in
      an offensive or abusive or unpleasant matter to any person at any show or at any other location
      where BSPS business is being transacted or via social media or the internet or via any publication
      in whatever format or via any other written or electronic format. Members’ attention is drawn to
      the BSPS Social Media and Internet Policy set out in the back of the BSPS Handbook.

16.   Rule 70 – Members are responsible for the actions of any non-members who are Family
      Members (as defined below) or who are friends or friends of Family Members or who are
      employed by them or assisting, supporting or representing them or otherwise acting on their
      behalf and any action or conduct of such non-member which would be a breach of the Rules
      were he a Member shall constitute a breach of the Rules by the Member concerned. Family
      Member shall include a spouse or civil partner, a partner, a direct descendant or ascendant of
      the Member or his spouse or civil partner, brothers, sisters or adopted children of the Member
      or his spouse or civil partner, or any other person who is part of the same household as the
      Member or is in the reasonable opinion of the BSPS a member of the Member’s family in the
      widest sense.

17.   The BSPS Scottish Branch/Board of Directors reserve the right to move, change,
      amalgamate or divide any class, championship or supreme as they deem fit when
      necessary to facilitate the running of the show. It is therefore the competitor’s
      responsibility to keep up to date with any changes which may occur during the running of
      the show. Supreme of Show will be judged after all sections have been concluded.
B.S.P.S. QUALIFICATION
The 1st, 2nd & 3rd prize-winners will qualify in the Novice Classes and Open First Pony of Show Pony or
Show Hunter Pony Type Class and in the MIXED HEIGHT NOVICE CLASSES the 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th prize
winners will qualify.

In the Open Classes, the three-highest placed Restricted animals in each class will qualify, and in the MIXED
HEIGHT OPEN CLASSES the four-highest placed Restricted animals will qualify, (riders on Restricted animals
MUST wear an armband).

Animals must be registered before the date of the Show at which they qualify for the Winter Championships
and must be ridden by B.S.P.S. Members, except in the case of exhibitors who have never been members
before who are allowed 7 days in which to become members and register their ponies, providing they have
a valid J.M.B. Certificate before the date of the Championship they qualify for.

HERITAGE QUALIFICATION
The 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed ponies in the Novice Classes will qualify and in mixed height Novice classes 1st,
2nd, 3rd and 4th prizewinners will qualify. In the Open (Restricted) Classes the qualification will be awarded
to the three-highest placed Restricted animals in each class, and in the mixed height Open (Restricted)
classes the four-highest placed Restricted animals will qualify, (riders on Restricted animals MUST wear an
armband).

Animals must be registered before the date of the Show at which they qualify for the Winter Championships
and must be ridden by BSPS Members, except in the case of exhibitors who have never been members
before who are allowed 7 days in which to become members and register their ponies.

Please note that entry fees are non-refundable if the show has to be cancelled due to weather conditions
which are out with the control of the BSPS Scottish Branch. Please check website for up to date information
on the show. Entries are also not transferable to other riders, ponies or classes.

THE ROYAL HIGHLAND SHOW – NURSERY STAKES
This show is a qualifier for The Royal Highland Show Nursery Stakes 2019. The first 4 placed same pony
and rider combination will qualify for the 2019 Royal Highland Show Nursery Stakes. Qualification will only
move down the line to the next eligible pony and rider combination provided they have jumped a clear
round. This class is open to both BSPS Members and Non-Members. Qualification will be in accordance
with Rule 37 of the BSPS Rule and Show Handbook.
Rule 37 – No rider may ride more than one pony in a class except that Riders in all WHP Classes that are
not qualifiers for HOYS or RIHS. Who may ride up to two ponies of the same height in a class, but ONLY
the first pony to jump will be competitive and go forward for Phase II judging, the second pony will not go
forward for Phase II.

NOVICE WORKING HUNTER PONIES

CLASS 1     TRAINING STAKES
            Open to all types of horses & ponies, 4 years old or over. Riders must declare on
            entry which height section they wish to jump – 60cm, 70cm or 80cm.
            Starting height at 60cm height

CLASS 2     THE BSPS CLASS FOR NOVICE WORKING HUNTER PONY
            Mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 133cms. Riders not to have
            attained their 14th birthday before 1st January in the current year. Max height of
            fences 75cm.

CLASS 3     THE BSPS CLASS FOR NOVICE WORKING HUNTER PONY
            Mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 143cms. Riders not to have attained
            their 17th birthday before 1st January in the current year. Max height of fences 85cm.

CLASS 4     THE BSPS CLASS FOR NOVICE WORKING HUNTER PONY
            Mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 153cms. Riders not to have attained
            their 20th birthday before 1st January in the current year. Max height of fences 90cm.

CLASS 5     THE BSPS CLASS FOR NOVICE INTERMEDIATE WORKING HUNTER PONY
            Mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 148cms but not exceeding 158cms. Riders
            not to have attained their 25 birthday before 1st January in the current year. Max height

            not to have attained their 25th birthday before 1st January in the Current year. Max height
              of fences 1m 5cm.

CLASS 7       THE BSPS CLASS FOR OPEN (RESTRICTED) WORKING HUNTER PONY
              Mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 153cms. Riders not to have attained
              their 20th birthday before 1st January in the current year. Max height
              of fences 1m.

CLASS 8       THE BSPS CLASS FOR OPEN (RESTRICTED) WORKING HUNTER PONY
              Mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 143cms. Riders not to have attained
              their 17th birthday before 1st January in the current year. Max height of fences 90cm.

CLASS 9       THE BSPS CLASS FOR OPEN (RESTRICTED) WORKING HUNTER PONY
              Mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 133cms. Riders not to have attained
              their 14th birthday before the 1st January in the current year. Max Height of fences 85cm.

              Open to horses who have not won an Open WHP Class. Max height of fences
              85cm. Spurs allowed for Competitors 16 years and over. All hats must comply with BSPS
              Rules.

CLASS 11   OPEN LEAD REIN WORKING HUNTER PONY - UNAFFILIATED
           Mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 133cm. Riders not to have attained
           their 10th birthday before 1st January in the current year. Pony, rider and handler required
           to jump a maximum of 6 small fences.

CLASS 12   MINI TRAINING STAKES
           Mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 133cm. Riders not to have attained
           their 12th birthday before 1st January in the current year. Max height of fences 50cm

CLASS 13   OPEN CRADLE STAKES (NON-QUALIFIER)
           Mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 122cms. Riders not to have attained
           their 11th birthday before 1st January in the current year. Max height of fences 70cm.

CLASS 14   THE BSPS OPEN (RESTRICTED) NURSERY STAKES
           Mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 133cms. Riders not to have attained
           their 12th birthday before 1st January in the current year. Max height of fences 70cm. This
           class is a qualifier for The Royal Highland Show 2018.

                                MINI WHP CHAMPIONSHIP
                OPEN TO 1ST AND 2ND PRIZE WINNERS FROM CLASSES 13 AND 14

           will jump first.

CLASS 16   THE BSPS “HERITAGE” MOUNTAIN & MOORLAND OPEN (RESTRICTED)
           WORKING HUNTER PONY MIXED HEIGHT
           Mare or gelding, 4 years old & over. Riders any age. In mixed height heritage WHP class
           riders may ride more than one animal providing the animals are of a different height. Ponies
           exceeding 143cm will jump first.

                             M & M WHP CHAMPIONSHIP
