THE 3-DAY JUICE CLEANSE
Juicing treats your body with nutrients, vitamins, and raw enzymes that are easy to
digest and enter your blood stream immediately. How amazing to be able to give
your body this gift!

There are myriad benefits of juicing:
   • Feeling happier and having more balanced moods
   • Improved sleep
   • More energy
   • Clearer skin and brighter eyes
   • Better digestion and assimilation
   • Weight loss
   • Less belly-bloat
   • Feeling more powerful because you are taking control of your health
   • Having a clearer mind and feeling more in tune with the universe

A juice detox can be done for any length of time, from one day up to 10 days. When
done properly, it ensures you are getting adequate nutrients to support the
regeneration of cells and organs while purging your body of toxic waste that can lead
to a lack of vitality and disease.

                                               Page 2
A juice cleanse is ideal for:
    • Jump starting the metabolism
    • Weight loss
    • Going deeper into cellular detoxification
    • Supporting problematic digestion / inflamed intestines
    • Healing a compromised immune system

A juice detox gives your digestion a break and a chance to completely rest. Juicing
is different from drinking smoothies because you are having just the juice without
any pulp. The body can easily consume up to ten pounds of vegetables in juices,
which would be very difficult to accomplish while eating vegetables with the fiber.
This is ideal for people with IBS, leaky gut, candida, and even Crohn's Disease. For
those without hampered digestion, the combination of both methods – juicing and
smoothies – can be very effective.

Juicing is also a powerful way to replenish and hydrate the body, for example: after
exercising, to address health issues like exhaustion, or even during treatments such
as chemotherapy.

A note on costs: Buying freshly-squeezed juices can run up to $12 per juice.

Personally I alter between buying freshly squeezed juices in a pinch, and cold-
pressing my own while I am at home.

I encourage you to find a local farm, CSA or join a co-op to reduce the costs of
buying organic fruits and vegetables.

If you are going to make the life-changing commitment to juicing regularly, I would
recommend empowering yourself by saving up to invest in a juicer. For a comparison
of the various models available, refer to http://www.top10juicers.net

What to expect:
The first day may seem difficult, which is why I have laid out a step-by-step plan for
you. In addition to juice recipes for the next three days, I have included a recipe for
a potassium broth in case you feel dehydrated and need a boost of potassium. You
also have recipes for dairy-free nut milks. I encourage you to drink a portion of nut
milk every evening during the detox to replenish your proteins and amino acids.

While some people enjoy a burst of energy during a detox, you may experience
some of the following withdrawal symptoms as your body cleanses:

    • Headaches
    • Body aches
    • Exhaustion
    • Loose stools
    • Mood changes
    • Itchy skin
    • Fatigue

To minimize withdrawal symptoms, be sure to start drinking plenty of water 2-3 days
prior to cleansing to begin flushing the toxins from the body, and cut back on or
eliminate processed foods, such as sugar, caffeine, dairy, and gluten.

I also encourage you to use the daily detox tools throughout your entire juice
cleanse to reduce any unwanted symptoms.

        During the cleanse
Drink five juices daily, 12 -16 oz. each.

If you have candida overgrowth, diabetes or sugar imbalances, then

                                               Page 4
I encourage you to stick with green juices. Green juice is very powerful for
alkalizing the body, and by only juicing greens you are consuming low
glycemic juice.

Coming off of your juice cleanse:

Suggested meals for the 1-2 days following the juice cleanse.

-UPON WAKING, drink 6 ounces of warm lemon water with 1 tablespoon of
Bragg’s raw apple cider vinegar. Feel free to add a tablespoon of honey
and/or a dash of cayenne or cinnamon.

-BREAKFAST: Enjoy a wonderful smoothie or a beautiful bowl of fruit (apples,
grapefruit, pineapple, or berries). You can add bee pollen or a dash of
spirulina to your smoothie or bowl of fruit.

-LUNCH: Have a simple salad (ex. spinach, sprouts, 1/2 an avocado, fresh
parsley) and add lemon juice, Bragg’s raw apple cider vinegar, and cultured
vegetables. The cultured vegetables will enhance digestion and remove toxins
and waste from the body while adding vital healthy bacteria.

-DINNER: Make a warm bowl of vegetables with hemp seeds and kelp
sprinkles.
This salad will bring back vital minerals to your body after your cleanse.

If you feel you need to snack during your post cleanse, have a piece of fruit, a
handful of seeds, soaked nuts, a smoothie, or coconut water.

Continue to stay hydrated and drink your nut milk at night if you wish, and
juice during the day for hydration, cellular detoxification, and pure liquid
energy.

HELPFUL JUICE DETOX HINTS:
   • You need to be drinking at least one gallon of water per day during your
       detox.

   • For extra hydration, particularly if you feel lightheaded, you can drink

coconut water (4-6 ounces) in between juices or make a natural

Gatorade by adding 6 tablespoons of Himalayan sea salt and 2

tablespoons of raw honey to your gallon of water.

   • If you feel hungry or low in energy, add an extra juice or steamed

vegetables as needed or take 1 tablespoon of unrefined, cold-pressed

       coconut oil

   • If you feel tired, light-headed, cold, or constipated, you can have one

to two cups of the potassium vegetable broth.

   • If you feel you need a smoothie at night, you can make one with your

choice of protein milk, adding hemp protein, alcohol-free vanilla,

cinnamon, and raw honey for extra energy.

LIQUID ASSETS – THE JUICES
1. Directions: Juice all of the ingredients through a juicer; add a dash

of cinnamon or cayenne if you want to warm up your digestion.

16 cups of water 1 bunch dark leafy greens (kale or collards)

2 tablespoons olive oil 1/2 bunch of parsley

1 onion, chopped 1 teaspoon sea salt

8 celery sticks, chopped 3 1-inch slices of ginger root

8 carrots, washed and unpeeled

START YOUR BROTH. Measure 16 cups of water into a large pot, then cover. Bring

your water to a boil.

PREPARE YOUR VEGETABLES. While the water is coming to a boil, wash all your

vegetables, and cut them in half so they will fit into the pot. When water is

boiling, put all the ingredients into the water EXCEPT the ginger. Bring the broth

to a boil with the lid on. Then turn down to simmer for 1 hour. Finally, add the

ginger slices. Continue simmering with the lid on for 30 minutes.

FINISH YOUR SOUP. You have two choices: strain the vegetables into a large pot

and serve the vegetables in a warm dish OR blend the liquid and vegetables

with an immersion blender to make a thicker broth.

DAILY DETOX TOOLS
Doing one or more of the following detox support tools daily will reduce any
unwanted detox symptoms. Symptoms will pass within a few days, but you can avoid
them altogether by supporting your liver and your lymphatic system with these
simple tools.

DRY SKIN BRUSHING

This can be done before a shower or bath or before bed to release toxicity. Skin
brushing improves the circulation and supports the liver.

-Use a loofah, hot towel, or skin brush on dry skin. Work on one section of the body
at a time, making very light circular strokes, working your way up towards the
heart.

EXERCISE AND SWEATING

Commit at least 15 minutes a day to exercising to the point of breaking a sweat. You
can try brisk walking, jogging, rebounding, cycling, or swimming. You can also work

up a sweat in a sauna, a steam room, or a hot bath. Sweating releases toxins from
the body, and regular exercise gets the blood moving and is essential for a healthy
metabolism.

TONGUE SCRAPING

This supports liver detoxification by removing unwanted bacteria from the mouth,
thereby supporting digestion. You can buy a tongue brush at your local pharmacy

EPSOM SALT BATHS

An Epsom salt bath can be a soothing reward during your detox. Add 1/2 cup of
Epsom salt, ½ cup of baking soda, and a few drops of lavender oil to a warm bath,
and soak for 30 minutes. Epsom salt relaxes the body, detoxifies the liver, and
provides you with the essential mineral, magnesium, which is necessary for optimal
digestion, detox, and relaxation.

OIL PULLING

This is a detox method that’s been around for centuries.

HOW TO DO OIL PULLING:

Put 1-2 teaspoons of organic coconut oil into the mouth

  Swish for 5-20 minutes

Spit oil into the trashcan, Rinse well with warm sea salt water to release all the
bacteria and toxicity in your mouth. Brush your teeth

For all my HARD CORE DETOXERS out there:

CASTOR OIL PACK

                                             Page 15
I suggest using a castor oil pack during the detox as a natural and inexpensive way
to rid the organs of toxicity. I know it’s a commitment, but it’s worth it to decrease
the toxic load on a deeper level, resulting in less work for your liver and a less
congested body.

You can put the pack on the organ that needs detoxing the most. It is important to
always focus on the liver, you want to put the pack on the right side.

MAKING THE PACK

Take an old shirt, cut it down to 12 x 18 inches in size, and fold it into 3 thicknesses.

You want it to be about the same size as the heating pad you will be using so that
the pad heats the entire pack but does not touch your skin. Put the shirt in a pan,
such as a large disposable baking pan, and pour in enough castor oil to cover.

Let sit until the shirt it is well saturated.

USAGE GUIDELINES

Use the pack in the evening before bed. Spread out a large plastic garbage bag on
the bed so that the castor oil will not leak onto your bed. Fold a towel (dedicate an
old towel for this use, as the oil is almost impossible to wash out completely), and
place on the garbage bag. Take the cloth cover off of a heating pad, and place the
heating pad on top of the towel. It is important to heat the pack before you put it on
your body.

Lie down on your back on the plastic bag. Place the pack on right side of your body,
extending from a little bit above the bottom of your sternum (breastbone) to about 4
inches below your navel, with the heating pad on top and the towel on top of that.
The pack should wrap around the body on the right side, from the navel as far to the
side as you can get it. Keep the pack on for 1 hour. Use the pack for 3 days in a row,
then take a break for 4 days, and repeat.

COLON CLEANSING

The colon has several important jobs. It is in charge of the elimination of wastes
from the digestive process and the assimilation and synthesis of minerals. Healthy
bowel movements are essential for good health. As we discussed in the section about
probiotics, the balance of good and bad bacteria in your gut is the cornerstone and
the foundation of proper bowel elimination. While not necessary for everyone, some
people find removing the wastes that build up in the colon to be very beneficial,
particularly those who suffer from digestive disorders.

Colon hydrotherapy can be the perfect complement to detoxing. Make sure to drink
adequate water after your session.

If you would prefer an alternative to colon hydrotherapy, an enema can be both
effective and cost-efficient.

You can also naturally increase bowel movements by taking vitamin C, magnesium,
or magnesium oxide.

DE-STRESS DURING YOUR CLEANSE

Most people cannot move to a mountaintop or quit their jobs, but we can all take
care of the most important part of our bodies – the digestive system – by
incorporating good habits that reduce stress. Stress can lead to health issues and gut
imbalances. An optimal digestive system must have a balance of 85% good bacteria
to 15% bad bacteria. If this balance is disrupted, the whole body gets inflamed.

Take some time every day to work on finding simple ways to de-stress your life.

I encourage you to find what works for you. During this cleanse, incorporate at least
one of the following:

• Creating time in your day – ideally five minutes
in the morning and five minutes at night -- to
visualize your day and your goals.
• Setting your phone to give you loving reminders
that you are complete, full and empowered.
• Making sure you are surrounding yourself as
much as possible with healthy, fun, loving, and
  enjoyable people who energize you.
• Drinking a nice cup of tea while reading your
  favorite book.
• Sitting and doing absolutely nothing.
• Finding quiet time for just you – this can even
be done at work by excusing yourself and taking
  a quick walk outside.
• If you have children, grandchildren, or if you are
a caretaker, write yourself a little love letter
every morning, even just a sentence saying, “I
  am doing a great job.”
• Be proud of yourself every day, and bring people
who can be proud of you into your life as well.
• Do what you love in life, even if only as a hobby.
It’s amazing how nourishing doing something
gratifying for even a small amount of time can
  be.
