The South Island Polo Association is delighted to welcome all players, teams and supporters
to this beautiful part of the country to contest the 2021 Savile Cup.
This year we have a total of 24 teams competing in the four handicap grades, which will be
played across four polo grounds.
We would like to say a huge thank you to our very own Port Hills, Amuri and Christchurch
Polo Clubs for preparing and giving up their grounds for the use of this tournament.
Moreover, we are incredibly fortunate to have received a huge amount of support and
personal time from our sponsors, members, patrons and further a field supporters getting
everything organised and prepared for this week. We truly couldn’t host this event without
you all so thank you! Again, special thanks to those that have travelled in particular the North
Island teams and to those who have offered billeting. Also special thanks to all our sponsors,
we couldn’t put on this event without your continued support and to Gary Tomes and Sam
Bethel for their commitment and assistance of the watering of the Glenmark Polo fields.
We have an action-packed week of polo planned so be sure to enjoy what Canterbury has to
offer on our Activities Day - Friday 5th. We also encourage you to bring a picnic and BYO to
enjoy while watching the games. Looking forward to seeing you all here!
Warmest regards,
The South Island
Polo Association
President
