WHO THEY ARE
Dlala Nje aims to challenge perceptions and create opportunities. The Dlala
Nje Community Centre in Hillbrow is a safe and engaging environment
where over 180 children regularly experience new things and awaken their
passions. The programmes range from arts and crafts to skateboarding,
homework facilitation, and computers. Dlala Nje also runs inner-city
tours, immersions and experiences in some of Johannesburg’s most
misunderstood areas. The revenue from these tours have allowed Dlala
Nje to build and run their community centers. To date they have taken over
10,000 people on experiences through the inner-city of Johannesburg.

WHO THEY ARE
OLICO Maths Education makes maths make sense for school youth. It is
OLICO’s mission to ensure that every South African child has all of the tools
and support they need to pursue the higher education and careers to make
their dreams come true. Led by the best mathematical minds in the country
and tailored to the South African context, they use a blend of specialised
tutoring and our custom-built and CAPS-aligned software to bridge maths
knowledge gaps in learners from Grade 1 to 12 – enabling them to reach
their dreams by accessing quality opportunities after school. OLICO’s work
works and they have results to prove it: > OLICO’s 2016 matric cohort in
Diepsloot achieved a 100% matric pass-rate (83% Bachelor level passes).

CRSP DSG N
WHO THEY ARE
The mission of CRSP DSGN is to spark the curiosity of the next generation
of African innovators by providing them with access to affordable quality
educational STEAM (Science, Tech, Engineering, Arts and Math) resources
which equip learners with a growth mindset. In order to achieve this, they
have developed the Low Cost Educational Robotics Toy (LCERT). The LCERT
and its lesson plans are designed to be fully integrated into the South African
CAPS curriculum, ensuring accessibility to all learners.

WHO THEY ARE
enke: Make Your Mark (enke) is a leadership development organization
that generates and incubates youth-led social impact. The name “enke” is
from the SeTswana word for “ink” and SeSotho word for “take it” reflecting
enke’s philosophy of empowering youth to become authors of their
future. Their expertise is in capacitating youth towards social innovation,
entrepreneurship, social cohesion and social responsibility. Through
programs for high school and post-school youth, they develop effective
young leaders – youth who have the desire and capability to access
opportunities, whether that’s an internship, employment, entrepreneurship,
or civic leadership. Since 2009, enke has trained almost 3,000 youth,
generating over 800 social impact projects that have impacted over 60,000
people in communities across South Africa.

WHO THEY ARE
Hustlenomics is a social enterprise dedicated to replacing informal backyard
shacks with permanent, durable structures using alternative building
technology - including using revolutionary interlocking bricks made from
recycled materials. They target low income households who cannot access
traditional loans and build these new structures at no cost to them, using an
innovative shared home financing model where the homeowner uses the
income generated from the completed structure (rental or business income
depending on use) to buy back portions of the structure until obtaining full
ownership. Hustlenomics upskills and employs local youth for all of its work
and is proud of its goal to hire 50% female employees in a traditionally male-
dominated construction space.
