19BENEFITS IN NEW SOUTH WALES
• Over 40% of the total project cost will be invested in
NSW – that’s over $4 billion of the cost of Inland Rail
• Inland Rail will boost the NSW Gross State Product by
$2.6 billion – benefiting residents of NSW living in our
cities and in our regions
• Around 5,000 jobs will be created in NSW during the
peak of construction of Inland Rail – concentrated in
Northern and North West NSW
• NSW Producers will benefit from Inland Rail, opening up
new options to both domestic and export markets
• In 2050, up to 70 services per week (in each direction)
will be diverted from the Sydney Metro Area by Inland Rail
– relieving pressure on the Sydney Metro network.

PROGRAMME UPDATE
• NSW Priority Projects (Parkes to Narromine and Narrabri to North Star) are being
advanced ahead of the rest of the Programme - current planning has construction on the
Parkes to Narromine project commencing in 2018.
• The current Programme Master Schedule provides for the commencement of Melbourne-
Brisbane services from 2024/25,
• ARTC are at an advanced state in the procurement of Technical and Approvals
Consultancy Services (TACS) that will progress design and environmental assessment /
approvals for the individual component projects across the programme. To date 4
contracts have been awarded with the remaining planned for late 2017 and early 2018.

PROGRAMME UPDATE
• Parkes to Narromine (P2N): The P2N EIS was placed on public exhibition on
the 19 July 2017 and will remain there until 18 August 2017. Procurement
process has commenced for construction contracts.
• Narrabri to North Star (N2NS) EIS: We are in the process of finalising the
release of the EIS for public exhibition planned for mid November 2017
• Illabo to Stockinbingal (I2S) and North Star to Border (NS2B): The
lodgement of a State Significant Infrastructure (SSI) application and EPBC
referral with the NSW Department of Planning and Environment is anticipated
to take place in Q4 2017
