2From the Principal’s Office
MR W. BOTHA
Week 4 of term 3 has gone by in a flash and once again Aston Manor Primary
School experienced a very successful academic week. The grade 6 learners
have made a welcome return to full time schooling, and must be
congratulated on their neat appearance and good behaviour. Grade 4 and 5
learners are still on weekly rotation, with the Red Group attending school
next week.
A BIG thank you to all the grade 1 -7 learners who are attending extra Maths,
English and Afrikaans classes in the afternoons. The hard work and
commitment will definitely pay off in future. Grade 4 - 7 learners will write
cycle tests in three weeks time ( 13 -23 September ). It is thus vitally important
for learners to attend school religiously in order to spend quality time on their
academics in preparation for the formal assessments coming up.
Grade 7 parents and learners applying for grade 8 placement in 2022
Grade 7 parents are reminded that the grade 8 Online Application Process
for 2022 opened on Tuesday 10 August 2021, and that applications will close
on Friday 3 September 2021. The Gauteng Department of Education has
informed the school that only 80 out of 112 grade 7 learners have applied for
grade 8 so far. Parents are urged to apply as soon as possible in order to
avoid disappointment.
The following web address must be used by parents in order to apply for
grade 8:

3Farewell to Mr. Klue
Head of Department - Sport
The School is very sad to announce that Mr. Klue is leaving Aston Manor Primary
School as he has accepted a teaching position in the United Kingdom from 1
September 2021. Mr. Klue has been the face of Aston Manor Primary School
sports for nearly 11 years and has contributed immensely to the success of the
school during this period. Mr. Klue achieved many milestones during his time at
AMPS and placed our school on the map when it comes to sports.
Mr. Klue's name will forever be remembered in the history books of Aston Manor
Primary in terms of his outstanding contribution towards the sport of rugby. In
2012 Mr. Klue took on the massive challenge of introducing rugby as a sport to the
boys of Aston Manor Primary School and has never looked back. Aston Manor
Primary School progressed from the Valke D League to the A 1 League over a short
period of time with a playing style that can be compared to that of the Crusaders
in New Zealand. Mr. Klue managed to establish a rugby culture at our school which
is second to none and we are extremely grateful for his effort.
Mr. Klue has shown tremendous commitment, love and passion towards Aston
Manor Primary School over the years, and can be extremely proud of his
achievements. Mr. Klue taught the athletes on the sports field and the learners in
the classroom the importance of living their lives according to the core value
system of the school, and to his credit he portrayed the very same values at school
on a daily basis:
- Integrity
- Professionalism
- Love
- Accountability
- Courage
- Loyalty
- School pride
- Teamwork
- Forgiveness
Mr. Klue's presence at school will be sorely missed in the coming days, weeks and
months, but his legacy will continue. Go well Mr. Klue, and may your new venture
be filled with a lot of happiness and success!
4A big thank you to our Foundation Phase
learners and parents for your continuous
hard work. Your support at home makes it
easier for the teachers at school. Please
remember that we are still doing continuous
assessments and that learners must attend
school on a daily basis.
This week we are going to look at healthy
eating habits. Fridays are treat days and
learners may bring something sweet to treat
themselves after a long week. The rest of the
week we would like to encourage parents to
pack a healthy lunchbox.
What should I put in my child's lunchbox?
o Fresh fruit.
o Crunchy vegetables.
o A meat or protein food, such as slices of
lean meat, hard boiled egg and peanut
butter.
o Dairy food, such as cheese sticks or slices,
grated cheese, milk or yoghurt.
o Starchy food such as bread, a roll, pita,
fruit bread or crackers.
o Water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
6Intermediate & Senior Phase News
Grade 4 - 7 Assessments are underway and it is imperative that
all pupils prepare well in advance for their assessments in order
to achieve their best. Not all subjects are seen as “studying
subjects” however, it is important that learners do revise and
practice concepts taught in order to successfully complete their
tasks.
Assessment dates can be found on the D6 Communicator and
learners have/will be receiving further guidance during their
contact time with their teachers on what they need to prepare
for and study.
As learners prepare for their assessments they need to
remember the following:
“Education is the great engine of personal development. It is
through education that the daughter of a peasant can become a
doctor, that the son of a mine worker can become the head of
the mine, that a child of farm workers can become the president
of a great nation. It is what we make out of what we have, not
what we are given, that separates one person from another.”
- Nelson Mandela
Strive to be the best version of yourself and good luck with
your studying!
