IGNITE YOUR ENERGY
Change your lens, change your life. Learn about improving your energy with Energy Leadership
Master Practitioner Deborah Korbel. This class is an introduction to the different levels of energy
individuals have based on their life experiences. As individuals, we view and live in the world
differently because of values, experiences, limiting beliefs, etc. Our individual filters will either limit
what we see (like tunnel vision) or expand what we see (like a prism) and, thus, impact how we
perceive and what we think about our circumstances. Through raising your awareness around energy,
you can vastly improve your life, relationships, business and more. Learn the principles Deborah
learned and used to improve her life after a severe accident.

Andrea Caruso likes helping people figure
out what to do with their lives. She started
with herself. “I was obsessed with the col-
lege planning process as a student,” she
remembers. Then, she began helping all her
school-aged friends, too. Once in college,
she became a student ambassador during

                                                       her bachelor’s degree.

It’s somewhat of a natural fit for Andrea

Glenwood Center. For the last 14 years,
she’s been a counselor at the high school
level (the last eight years were spent here in
our valley, at Roaring Fork High School). She
says it’s been exciting and rewarding to help high school students prepare for their next
step into college. “And now, I am that next step,” she says of her new role helping college
students choose the right program of study and coursework positioning them to achieve
        their dreams.

Andrea’s been all over the world in pursuit of her own dreams. For four years, she was
a naturalist guide in the rainforests along a tributary of the mighty Amazon River in
Ecuador. She developed and travelled with a program building awareness of endangered
forests in Borneo. Those experiences piqued her interest in teaching science, and when
she returned to the U.S., she became a bilingual middle- and high-school teacher in her
hometown of Denver before transitioning to her counseling career.

If you’re thinking about college or a career change – no matter whether you have a solid
idea of what you want or not – Andrea invites you to start exploring your options. She’s
here to help! Se habla español. Make an appointment by calling the Glenwood Center

      Social Work
Social Work is the fastest growing job sector in the United States. It provides meaningful, paid work
in a number of related fields: youth development, health equity, family services, mental health,
community organizing and much more. Local employers of many types – including non-profits, health
care providers, schools, municipal and county governments – are always looking for social workers.

The following courses (all required by the AA in Social Work degree) are being offered at the
Glenwood Center in a coordinated fashion so that people can take all four with limited time off from
        work.

Please visit with a college counselor to learn more about this degree program as well as pathways to
earning higher degrees in this field.

                                    Take a step ahead:
                                    Add a sustainability leadership
                                    credential to your resume!

The Sustainability Leadership Certificate (SLC) at Colorado Mountain College
offers community members who already hold a bachelor’s degree access to 15
(or more) credits of Sustainability courses to make them more marketable in the
workplace and enhance the understanding of how to apply sustainability concepts
and strategies to their local communities.

Sustainability Leadership Certificate students will take three foundational courses
and then choose two elective courses which provide the certificate earner with
an emphasis area. The electives can be chosen from a variety of areas within the
Sustainability Studies Bachelor’s Degree ranging from the natural sciences and
humanities to the social sciences. These include, but are not limited to sustain-
able food systems, sustainable economics, social entrepreneurship, environmental
humanities, cultural equity, and ecology courses. At the Vail Valley at Edwards
campus, students may also choose to select elective coursework from the Sustain-
able Cuisine degree offerings.

The certificate will be a “Certificate of Completion” from Colorado Mountain Col-
lege and is aimed at preparing students to be able to contribute to a more sustain-
able future within their communities. The SLC has the potential to increase the
earning power of certificate graduates within their current professions and/or as
they pursue new careers. It will surely equip businesses with employees skilled in
the theory and practice of sustainability, helping to bring those businesses into the
contemporary world of sustainable business practices.

In order to be eligible for the Sustainability Leadership Certificate, students must
hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and meet the
prerequisite requirements for courses within this certificate. Students must
complete the sequence of courses within three academic years unless otherwise
approved.

be found at www.ColoradoMtn.edu/classes. Alternatively, currently enrolled credit
students may find the information on Student Planning through Basecamp.
