No entry will be accepted unless signed by the Exhibitor or authorised
agent and correct amount of entry fee included.
A local rosette is awarded to the best exhibit in each horse class, which
is the property of any exhibitor living within a 15 mile radius of the
Town Hall, Romsey. Those eligible must wear a WHITE arm band.

The society will award 1st – 6th place rosettes and will be awarded at the judges’ discretion. Championship and
Reserve rosettes and cards will be awarded in each championship.

Cups and Trophies
Winners of the Society’s cups and trophies must collect them from the Chief Awards Steward at the Main Show
Secretaries area, before leaving the showground, as they cannot be sent after the show. An engraver will be
available at the showground where cups and trophies can be engraved at a small charge. All cups and trophies
must be returned to the Secretary, clean and undamaged by the 1st August the following year. Please do not take
cups and trophies unless you can guarantee to return them safely by hand or registered post by the above date.
Height Measurement
In all classes where horses or ponies are subject to height limits the judge may order the exhibit to be measured,
unless the exhibitor can produce an appropriate official measurement certificate.
To allow classes to run to time numbers will be limited to 25 animals per class.

ENTRY TICKETS
Admission will by Exhibitor Wristbands and will be provided on the basis of total entry fees paid. Additional tickets
may be purchased at the special Exhibitors’ advanced rate of £14 with your entry. Wristbands and information
will be posted 2 weeks before the show.
1 horse entered - 2 wristband passes • 2 horses entered - 3 wristband passes • 3 horses entered - 4 wristband
passes – Thereafter 1 wristband pass per horse up to a maximum of 6 wristband passes
HORSE BOX passes will only be issued to vehicles carrying horses or ponies.
Due to limited parking and health and safety, cars will be requested to park in the FREE CAR PARK!

The Morning Rings have varying start times. The Council Reserve the right to alter the time of any class.
Where a time is given against a class the judging will not start before that time, where no time is given classes
will follow on.

           Riders must be 40 years or over on 1st January. Special prize to the greatest combined age of
           horse and rider, Special prize to best Riding Club member to wear a white arm band, special prize
           to best rider on a New Forest Pony. TSR Riders Finals - 1st & 2nd riders qualify and will receive a

Class 2    SOUTHERN RIDDEN COLOURED HAMPSHIRE CHAMPIONSHIP – for spotted, piebalds and skewbalds.
           Open to horses/ponies who have received an invitation from a nominated show and who have
           returned their invitation with their entry form and fee. Details from www.romseyshow.co.uk

                         PALMERSTON RING (2)
                  WORKING HUNTER PONIES RIHS Qualifiers
                                         (Run under the rules of the NPS)

The NPS/NAF M&M Working Hunter Pony Longines Royal International Horse Show Championship Open to
pure bred registered M&M stallions, mares and geldings, five years old or over. The owner must be a Qualifying
or Life member of the NPS for the pony to enter this competition. Riders may only ride one pony in each class.
The highest placed pony from each class to qualify for the final at Hickstead 2019. Qualification may pass down
to third in the event first and second have already qualified. At the final riders must also be NPS members. The
Owner’s Membership cards MUST be produced in the ring when requested or the qualification will be forfeit.

This is also a qualifier for NEDZ/Equifest (5) taking place at the East of England Showground in August 2018. The
two highest exhibits not already qualified in each class will qualify. equifest.org.uk.

           THE FOXWOOD PERPETUAL CHALLENGE CUP (57) will be awarded to the winner of this class.

           be limited to 20.

           WORKING HUNTER PONY CHAMPIONSHIP 1st and 2nd placed from classes 7 and 8
           Champion £25 and Reserve £20

            (a) For registered horses in Grade C that have not won a total of 375 points. Four double clears will
            qualify - in accordance with rule 312.6
            (b) For all horses born on or after 1st January 2012, irrespective of points. Horses will only be eligible
            for double clear qualification to Second Rounds if they reach the age of six years or under in the same
            calendar year as the Newcomers Final - in accordance with Rule 312.6.
            Qualifies for: Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers Second Round. Qualifying period 1st June - 31st
            May inclusive.
            Numbers to qualify: Those horses which jump a clear round in the First Round, followed by a clear round
            in the jump-off, in at least four Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers First Round competitions in
            any qualifying period, will qualify to compete in a Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers Second
            Round, irrespective of their placings for prize money in those competitions, which will be determined
            by the normal Table A Rules (Rule 191). To obtain a double clear qualification, even if the horse is the
            only clear round, it must jump a jump-off round and jump clear to gain a double clear round.

            be split and two sets of prize money awarded. Horses (or ponies in pony competitions) may compete in
            one section only. In the event of insufficient entries lower prizes may be withheld. Rule - 76.6
            Foxhunter section:
            (a) For registered horses in Grade C that have not won a total of 700 points. Four double clears will
            qualify - in accordance with rule 310.6
            (b) For all registered horses born on or after 1st January 2011, irrespective of points. Horses will be
            eligible for double clear qualification to attend second rounds providing they reach the age of seven
            years or under in the same calendar year as the Foxhunter Final - in accordance with rule 310.6.
            Four Double clears will qualify for the Senior Foxhunter Second Rounds. Qualifying period: 1st June-
            31st May inclusive.
            Those horses that have qualified for the Senior Foxhunter Championship in 2018 are not eligible for
            qualification to the 2019 Championship.

Class 12   THE ROR TATTERSALLS THOROUGHBRED RIDDEN SHOW SERIES QUALIFIER 2019
           Thoroughbred mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, any height. Riders must be 15 years or over.
           Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, pelham or simple double bridle. Horses should be plaited.
           The first TWO go forward to the championship in 2019. All entries MUST be registered with the
           RoR and include their registration number on entry form and have RACED in GB. All those entering
           horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and
           Regulations from time to time in force
           There will be a prize for the highest place horse that is ridden by an Amateur.
           Please be aware that the show will split the class on the horse’s last run in a race (NH or Flat) or
           will provide 2 ride judges should the entries exceed 20. Please mark your entry form accordingly.
           Competitors must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap.
           Racing injuries and blemishes will NOT be ignored in this series

M&M RIDDEN NPS/THE MINNS FAMILY SILVER MEDAL Championship
 A Silver Medal Rosette is offered by the National Pony Society for the best registered pony owned by an NPS
  Qualifying or Life member in the M&M Ridden section. The Sponsor’s Rosette is also awarded to the pony
   receiving the qualification. Membership cards must be presented in the ring to receive the medal and/or
 the qualification. Qualifiers are entitled to compete in the final of the Silver Medal Championship to be held
                             at the NPS Summer Championship Show in August 2019.
      Highest placed breed winners from the Ridden Mixed M&M and Connemara classes, Ridden Welsh
    Champion and Reserve and Ridden New Forest Champion and Reserve are eligible for the Ridden Silver
                                           Medal Championship.

To qualify for the National Supreme Showing Championship Show in September at Arena UK the first, second
and third highest placed 15+ horse/pony in this class will each qualify. To enter the National Supreme Showing
Championship Show the rider/handler and horse/pony must register with 15+ Horse & Pony Events within 14 days

Class 42   LEADING REIN PONY. Open to M&M and Non-M&Ms. Mares and geldings 4 years old and over, not
           exceeding 122 cm. Riders must have attained their 3rd birthday but must not have attained their 9th
           birthday before the 1st January in the current year. To be led by an attendant and shown in a snaffle
           bit, the lead rein to be attached to the noseband only. The reins must go directly from the bit to the
           rider’s hands. Leaders must be 16 years and over.
           THE HURST CHALLENGE CUP (36) awarded to the winner of this class.
Class 43   FIRST RIDDEN PONY. Open to M&M and Non-M&Ms. Mares and geldings 4 years old and over, not
           exceeding 128cm. Any suitable bridle accepted. Riders must have attained their 3rd birthday but must
           not have attained their 12th birthday before the 1st January in the current year. Ponies must not be
           cantered except in their individual show.
           THE CRADDOCK PERPETUAL CHALLENGE CUP (55) kindly presented by Lady Craddock to the winner
           of this class.
           MINI CHAMPIONSHIP 1st & 2nd from classes 42 and 43

         shown In Hand and must be plaited. Best rosette and £10 to the best yearling in this class. Rosettes
         to the best 2 and 3 years old in this class. Best Rosette to the highest placed ex-racehorse in the
         class. This class maybe spilt at judge’s discretion on the day, depending on numbers forward.

           THE TANTALITE TROPHY (112) awarded to the highest placed ex-racehorse.

           over, to be judged as a Riding Pony. Special rosette to the best 148cm.

           ARAB AND PART BRED ARAB RIDDEN CHAMPIONSHIP 1st and 2nd from classes 55 and 56
           THE PEPPERCORN PERPETUAL CHALLENGE CUP (68) kindly presented by Peppercorn Natural Foods,
           Romsey, to the Ridden Champion.

                                                 SIDE SADDLE

Class 57   The Side Saddle Association – EQUITATION OPEN QUALIFYING CLASS Run under S.S.A. Rules
           defined in the current Member’s Handbook. Open to Members and Non-Members. Members
           carrying their current Championship Points Cards are eligible for S.S.A. rosettes to 3rd Adult and 3rd
           junior places and S.S.A. Championship Points. Southernden Farm offers a rosette to the highest
           placed member under 14 on 1st January of the current year. Side Saddle International offer a
           rosette to the Adult Member and Manor Grange Stud Show Centre to the Junior Member, judged to
           be the best turned out.
           THE ERNST & YOUNG TROPHY (79) to the winner of this class.

Class 58   BEST HORSE OR PONY RIDDEN SIDE SADDLE. Open to horses and ponies 4 years old and over,
           conformation & manners will be taken into consideration; horses/ponies will not be stripped.
           Special rosette to the highest placed Adult and Junior Members of the S.S.A. carrying their current
           Championship Points Cards. Competitors must wear a hat to current Safety Standard or above. The
           highest placed coloured exhibit (who had not already qualified) receives a Special Rosette and qualifies
           for the Side Saddle Final at the CHAPS Championship Show. Open to any type of exhibit. Riders must
           be 16 or over. Riders/Owners need not be a member or their exhibit registered with CHAPS at the
           time of qualification, but in order to compete at the Championships, the Rider/Owner must be a
           showing member and their horse/pony registered with CHAPS before entering the final.

           Side Saddle International offer a rosette to the Member judged to be the best turned out in Adult and
           Open Equitation Qualifying classes.
