LENTEN READING GROUP: Catholic Social Thought has been 5:30PM-6:30PM (English) and 7:30PM-9:00PM (Spanish)
called the “best kept secret” of the Church in the modern
world. Parishioners interested in learning more are invited to join
a Lenten reading group on social teaching led by Dr. Michael
Promisel. Meetings will occur in-person (Parish Hall) and online
at 7:00PM, every Tuesday of Lent.

CONSISTENT ETHIC OF LIFE SPEAKER: Join us on
Saturday, March 20, at 10:30AM as we dive into what a
consistent ethic of life looks like in society, and how we as
Catholics are called to fulfill this idea. Stephen Schneck,
executive director of the Franciscan Action Network, will join us
(via zoom) for a presentation on the consistent ethic of life
followed by a group discussion. We encourage all parishioners
and community members to take part in this presentation! We
will be in the Sanctuary with plenty of room for social

+ symbol for deceased bilingual Living Stations of the Cross. Rehearsals will take
place every Sunday right after the Spanish Mass (around
1:30PM). Let’s come together as a community to remember our

MASKS: Fr. Oscar brought home more face masks from
Colombia. They are different solid colors and solid colors with
the St. James logo, some printed styles. They are being sold
for $5 each. They will be available after Mass or you can stop
by the church office during the week to purchase them. Cash or
checks made out to Fr. Oscar Borda. Proceeds go to support STATIONS OF
single mothers in Colombia, South America.

ST. JAMES COLUMBARIUM
With the final three niche units (Units B, D & F) install for our columbarium, we have seven such units now in place. We have a total
of 336 niches in the columbarium, 145 have either been purchased outright or are being paid for on the time payment plan. Thus 190
niches currently are still available. Remember each niche, which measures 12" x 12" x 12", can hold two cremated remains. The cost
for a niche is $2,900 with $2,000 of that amount being tax deductible.
If you have not already thought about our columbarium as a final resting place, now may be the time to begin. Take a minute a nd visit
our beautiful Columbarium located on sacred grounds. Call the church office for additional information at 843-347-5168.

SACRAMENT OF THE SICK REQUEST: This is the proper
name for what is sometimes mistakenly called “Last Rites” or
“Extreme Unction.” It is meant for anyone who has a serious
illness, is facing surgery, or even is dealing with the effects of
old age. It should not be limited to the dying. As the Letter of
James says clearly, “Are there any who are sick among you?
Let them send for the priests of the Church, and let the priests
pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the
Lord...” It is a sacrament of healing for spirit, mind, and often
body. It is administered at a monthly Mass, usually on the first

First Sunday of Lent
St. Oscar Romero said, “Aspire not to have more, but to be
more.” These powerful words provide the perfect framework for
a conversion oriented Lenten experience. God is giving us this
Lenten sign to stop being concerned about what you have and
focus on who you are. This requires that we create a desert
space and listen more attentively for God to reveal His
