Processional Cross, Ethiopian, from Art in the Christian Tradition, a project of the Vanderbilt
Divinity Library, Nashville, TN. Original source: Wikimedia

The exceptional quality of this cross demonstrates the high level of technical skill attained by
the monastic artisans of the 15th century. Its multiple openings create a complicated pattern
composed of nine interlocking circles enclosed within a quatrelobe frame. At the outside
edges of the terminal points of the cross, intertwining lines end in serpentine curves. The
snake-like forms assume a more distinct shape on either side of the looping brackets that
secure the cross to its base. Such details possibly incorporate references to the brazen serpent
of Moses as described in the Book of Numbers (21:4-9).

Readings for
March 14, 2021
Numbers 21:4-9
Friday, March 12, 2021 - Church of the Redeemer
Numbers 21:4 9
Ephesians 2:1-10
John 3:14-21
Psalm 107:1-3, 17-22

Thank you for your continued generosity!

The limits on some food purchases make it difficult for us to gather
the quantities of food needed. Currently, we are filling 185 bags
with food each week, twice what we were doing in the fall.
Thanks to the continued support of so many of you, we have not
had to refuse any requests for food.

Here specifically is what you could donate. Even one or two helps,
but sizes are important. While larger sizes may seem more generous
and economical, the bags quickly become too heavy for the
recipients and for the drivers who lift as many as 40 bags.

Canned chicken (12.5oz) or tuna (5oz each)
     Bag or can of beans
     Peanut butter (18oz)
Individual serving cups of fruit or applesauce
     1 lb. pasta (any type)
     1 lb. rice
     Box macaroni and cheese
     Cereal (10-12 oz)
     Crackers (10-12 oz), e. g. Wheat Thins/Triscuits
Marinara sauce (24 oz), preferably in plastic jar
     Hearty soup

Click here to sign up to sort, pack or deliver bags.

St. Stephen’s families would also appreciate $50 VISA gift
cards. These cards may be purchased online or in person at stores
throughout the area. These we ask to be sent to the Redeemer
Parish Office or dropped off in the mail slot at Redeemer.

                 CELEBRATE THIS EASTER
WITH A GIFT OF EASTER LILIES

The beautiful lilies which adorn the Church of the Redeemer at
Easter are made possible by many financial donations from our
parishioners.

Names which are received by March 25th will be printed in
the Easter worship service leaflets. We suggest $50 for the
first listing, $10 for each additional one, but ANY AMOUNT is
welcome. Please make your check payable to Church of the
Redeemer. Thank you.
