here's no other company who can
match our unique Northern Lights
Promise. A free voyage if the aurora
borealis doesn't occur is a bold offer,
one that only Hurtigruten can make
because of our famous route; taking you
along the Norwegian coast, under the

Auroral Zone, and departing every day
throughout the auroral season.
The Northern Lights Promise exists because
we are so confident that you will see the

lights with us, but also because we want
to give any disappointed customers the
chance to catch the aurora again. We are
proud of the fact that such disappointment
is rare. For last year's auroral season, fewer
than 1% of our guests claimed a free voyage
on the Northern Lights Promise, which
means 99% of our 12-day voyages during
that period were treated to displays of
the aurora. That's a pretty impressive
statistic, and as close as anyone can get
to a guarantee.
Come aboard on a voyage with us and you’ll
see the aurora as it is meant to be seen.

MAKING
—Leaders in sustainable travel
O
ur desire to travel, explore and
experience new things is as
natural as the air we breathe.
But we understand that doing
so can have an impact. Our
goal is to make ours a positive one,

possible. We have already banned
polluting heavy fuel oil, even
advocating an international ban.
Now, we are the first company in
the industry to tackle the problem

A GREENER FLEET
Millions are being invested in state-of-

has one of the greenest fleets in travel
by 2021. We will be launching the world’s

partnership with Rolls-Royce will also
extend to retrofitting nine of our current

BAN ON SINGLE-USE PLASTIC
Plastic pollution is the single biggest
threat to our oceans. We are proud to be
the first cruise operator in the world to
ban all single-use plastic from our fleet.
In July 2018, a fleet-wide initiative
saw the removal of all unnecessary
single-use plastic, replacing them
with reusable, biodegradable, and
environmentally friendly alternatives.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
As Norway’s largest maritime
apprenticeship, we are a major
employer along the Norwegian
coast. This builds strong relationships
with local communities, which in
turn enriches the guest experience.
At times, passengers on board
are invited to join beach clean-
