CUMMINGSCENTRE.ORGA MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRESIDENT
AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
As the winter chill sets in, we invite you to come in from the cold to the
Cummings Centre. A warm welcome awaits you where you can shake off
some of the winter blues by participating in our myriad of programming and
volunteering options. Cozy up in the Craft Centre; get your heart pumping in
the gym; participate in a discussion group; belt out a show tune or share your
time helping others- we have it all for you at the Cummings Centre.
We are delighted to present our Winter 2018 Guide that details the many
options available for you at our main campus on Westbury along with a list
of programs, perhaps a bit closer to home, at our satellite locations in the
West Island, Westmount, Chomedey, Saint-Laurent along with several sites
in Florida for our snowbirds.
As a volunteer-based organization, we have reaffirmed our commitment to
our volunteers and members by implementing a program evaluation of all of
our programs as well as the appointment of our first-ever Ombudsman. Both
of these initiatives target your continuous feedback enabling us to better meet
your needs and provide the best programming and services possible. Your
thoughtful comments and suggestions will allow us to build upon our
successes as we look towards the future.
Start the new year by trying something different or register again for your
favourite programs. Rewarding volunteer opportunities abound as well for 2018!
Visit our new website at www.cummingscentre.org for easy on-line registration
or come in to register and warm up with a hot cup of coffee with friends old
and new in our main campus café. We are waiting for you!

The impact our volunteers make on a daily basis can be seen on the smiling
faces of the people with whom they interact. Their contribution is felt and
seen in so many areas. Significant strides in the adapted exercise gym, funds
raised to ensure our continued delivery of services to those in need, strategic
decisions thrusting our Agency to the forefront of innovation for the 50+
population are all due to the dedication of our volunteers. Bonds are made
through support and genuine sharing whether welcoming someone at the
door, assisting in the Tech Lounge or serving a meal.
"Our Cummings Centre volunteers are outstanding individuals making a
remarkable impact," says Lynn Gordon, Director of Volunteer Services.

SOCIAL SERVICES
We all struggle with the reality of aging, whether for ourselves or our loved
ones. We’re worried about the challenges we will face in the future or those
we are already facing today.
We don’t like the thought of losing our independence. When we experience
difficulty getting around, cooking meals, or simply doing what we want,
when we want, we don’t always know where to look for help.
Imagine sitting down with someone who can provide you with a plan to
PERSONALIZED improve your quality of life. The Cummings Centre professional Social Services
team is trained to provide you with the support you and your family need.
