For so many years Secunda was waiting
anxiously for a Mall. I can remember each time
that there was some construction going on in
town, the main talk of the town was that a
Mall is being built, just to find out that it
was not the case. So when we finally
heard we were getting a Mall, most
were very skeptical about it and
the general feel was, let’s wait
and see.
So finally in 2013, Secunda Mall
was well underway of being built,
and it started to look like a Mall.

Residents cannot
renew vehicle
licenses in Bethal
BETHAL - Residents cannot renew
their vehicle licenses since the licensing
department at Bethal has been offline for the
past three weeks.
Ms Marietjie Fourie, DA Councillor,
tried to find out what was going on and
discovered that the Telkom cables were
stolen three weeks ago.
She said she will ask the licensing office in
Bethal to issue letters stating that they were
offline and motorists were unable to renew
their licenses, but the province declined to
grant this request.
Ms Fourie said motorists can renew their
licenses at Secunda’s licensing office.
Telkom has not fixed the cables yet and
committed to install 3G networks, but so far
they have failed to do this.
The Echo contacted Telkom in Bethal for
comment last week, but the manager failed
to return phone calls. The municipal building in Extension 8 is under construction.
The Echo also contacted the
communications department at Govan
