In just three years, EWIP Cologne has developed into a trendsetting market platform. Arthouse projects from all over Europe come here
to find co-production partners, distributors and sales agents as well as to establish contact with important festivals. The success to date
is evidence of how well the event was prepared and how right it is to focus on distribution and marketing. Consequently, numerous EWIP
films have already had their world premieres in Cannes, Venice and Berlin, Toronto, Tallinn or Rotterdam.
So as not to lose the momentum of the first two editions, the organisers felt obliged to try and invite the industry to come to Cologne again
this year, particularly now when the film industry so urgently needs functioning markets. The personal presentation of the projects as well
as the exchange of ideas and meetings - the lifeblood of the industry - should be possible in accordance with the rules on hygiene and
social distancing. And the response proves the organisers right: a total of 165 projects were submitted, of which 28 were selected to be
presented in Cologne. We are delighted with this result!
Our thanks go to Torsten Frehse, Hen-Suk Jung and Olimpia Pont Cháfer for their great commitment and the fruitful cooperation, and,
of course, to this year‘s jury: Melanie Andernach (Made in Germany), Leslie Chen (Blossoms Entertainment), Sebastian Lückel (ARD
Degeto) and Triin Tramberg (Tallinn Black Nights Festival). We wish all the delegations a nice time in Cologne and plenty of success.

Dear Colleagues,
I am delighted to welcome you on behalf of the management of EWIP and the board of directors of AG
Verleih as organizers of this event.
If everything works as planned, EWIP will be one of or THE first industry platform in the crisis that also
allows direct communication.
When deciding to pull through with EWIP 2020 under these special circumstances, we were particularly
pleased about the encouragement by so many colleagues with reference to their positive experiences in
the first 2 years. As the previous editions have proven to be a success, we are very much looking forward
to this third edition generating a number of agreements with distributors, sales agents, broadcasters and co-producers as well as festival
invitations.
Our mission with European Work in Progress Cologne, therefore, remains to maintain and expand a platform in the middle of Europe for
our colleagues from the acquisition‘s department.
Of course, we are aware of how many colleagues are currently in an existential situation!
We want to further establish and continuously improve this increasingly important event in this world of upheaval in film distribution. To
achieve this, we tried to combine the larger number of applications with a balanced selection and interesting panel discussions. We were
able to bring together renowned people for our jury and experts for our panels.

Triin Tramberg Melanie Andernach
has been the programme coordinator of the Tallinn Black Nights Festival since 2011. She is also the co-founder studied Law at the Universities of Bonn, Munich, and Paris, before she did her Ph.D. in Copyright Law in

Leslie Chen Sebastian Lückel
is the senior advisor of Blossoms Entertainment, a newly established sales agency and publicity company for is head of acquisitions, coproductions and programming at ARD Degeto. He works for Degeto Film GmbH
Chinese films. She is responsible for the strategic planning of sales and distribution worldwide. Leslie was SVP since 2018 and is responsible for feature film and series acquisitions, pre-buys as well as German cinema
