BALLYHOURA LOCAL DEVELOPMENT FORUM
                             DESIGNING PROGRESSIVE COMMUNITIES
Ballyhoura Development Ltd presents a space for cross learning in a Local Development Forum on SOCIAL INNOVATION:
DESIGNING PROGRESSIVE COMMUNITIES, which aims to present insights and open minds to future opportunities and potential in
 the field of social innovation.
Ballyhoura Development is the Local Development Company covering South and East Co. Limerick and North East Co. Cork, with a
population of approx 86,000 people, and is a partnership structure of community/ voluntary, social partners, statutory agencies and
local government nominees. The principal activity of the company is the implementation of an integrated multi-sectoral area development
strategy in Ballyhoura Country to support the diversification of the rural economy, enhance the quality of life of citizens and foster a
 proactive and inclusive society.
As a client and area focused agent of development, one of our key strengths is supporting the identification of needs across all sectors of
communities, and facilitating the development of appropriate responses by communities so that they can achieve sustainable economic
and community development. Communities express the same desire for increased services and employment opportunities within their local
areas, and in many instances, solutions grounded in social innovation principles have provided the answers to specific needs and gaps in
services and in the economic, social and environmental infrastructure in local communities and sectors.
This Forum is aimed at potential social entrepreneurs, those working with social enterprises, community activists, local development and
public bodies, as well as active established social enterprises that see the opportunity for networking and learning through examples at
 both local and national level.
Ballyhoura Development believes in the latent capacity in communities. FORUM FOCUS
