Investment grants and financing
Both the federal state of Bavaria and the German
federal government grant low interest loans to
promote investment.

Investment loans for small and medium-sized
businesses (< 250 employees/ < 50 € million turnover)
for establishing businesses creating jobs or
contributing to the economic significance of the region
(> 50% turnover outside of a 50 km radius); minimum
investment 250,000 € to a maximum 7.5%.

The “Capital and Investment” grant programme is
directed toward established companies (> 5 years),
which create jobs through their investment. Maximum
grant amount: 4 € million.

Short commutes for employees

Bus lines no. 58 and 59 connect the GVZ
with Augsburg’s public transport network. It
can be reached within 20 minutes from the
city centre.

The GVZ is Bavaria’s third largest
agglomeration with around 630,000
inhabitants, over 200,000 businesses and

Seaport hinterland location

For the North Sea, Baltic Sea and
Mediterranean seaports, the GVZ is an
ideal hinterland location, easily reached by
road and rail.

Railroad connections exist to the German
North Sea and Baltic seaports as well as to
the Mediterranean seaports via Northern
Italy (with additional capacities available
through the expansion of the BBT, the
Gotthard and NEAT).

Lorries can reach main destinations within
10 hours or less, e.g., Verona (6:40 hrs.),
Genoa (8:35 hrs.), Antwerp (8:59 hrs.) or
Hamburg (9:23 hrs.).

European traffic gateway

The Augsburg region GVZ is located at the
centre of the trans-European railway
network.

It is connected with the European high-
speed connection Paris – Budapest (TEN
Project 17).

Extended connection Augsburg – Munich
and planned expansion of the Augsburg –
Neu Ulm connection.

The GVZ is located in the European
freight corridor 3 (seaports / Augsburg /
Southern and Eastern Europe).

Combined traffic terminal

Modern intermodal terminal for
combined traffic (planned)

Overall completion is planned for 80,000
loading units with 4 transhipment platforms,
2 train composition platforms and 3 gantry
cranes.

The current transhipment centre is located
at the container terminal in Augsburg-
Oberhausen, some 4 km away (with a
capacity of 24,000 loading units).
