Nicole Brookes
Studying Level 4 AAT Accounting

“I chose to enhance my career prospects
going back to work after having my child.
Beforehand I was mostly doing admin
roles with little scope for progression and
limited earning potential.

I started by studying the Level 3
AAT Accounting at Strode on an
apprenticeship, where I was taken on by
a local accountancy practice. After my
apprenticeship finished they kept me on,
and paid for me to continue my studies on
the Level 4 AAT course.

I have found Strode College to be friendly,
organised and supportive. My lecturer has
been amazing - I couldn’t have come this
far without his knowledge and support.

There are so many aspects to accountancy
that I never realised. It is a fantastic basis
for a wide variety of job choices. I am
loving my new career and couldn’t have
achieved what I have so far without the
learning and practical skills acquired at
the College. I hope to progress further in
my accountancy career with my current
employer.”

advantageous. As a fully recognised qualification, on completion of this course you could enter work directly or progress to
complete your degree by joining the BSc (Hons) Psychology of Human Behaviour programme at Strode College (see below).
Alternative progression options are available, including the final year of the BSc (Hons) Psychological Studies course at the
University of Plymouth. For those seeking British Psychological Society accreditation, it would be necessary to complete
either two years of the Plymouth degree programme or to apply for a Masters once you have your BSc (Hons). At Strode

may also be available on an optional basis. The Foundation Degree course can be studied full-time over two years (usually
two days per week in college) or part-time over four years (usually one day per week in college). Please contact the College for
further information - applications can be made online or you may request our ‘Higher Education’ application form.

(BSc (Hons) Degree - Level 6)
Following achievement of the Foundation Degree above, graduates are offered the opportunity to develop their
psychological knowledge further by completing their full degree at Strode. The BSc (Hons) Psychology of Human Behaviour
degree programme is also validated by the University of Plymouth and provides an excellent progression route for students.
It is, however, also possible to be considered for this programme, if you have already completed a similar course of study
to Level 5 in a relevant and related discipline. Students embarking on the BSc (Hons) degree programme will expand their
previous knowledge and also have the opportunity to produce a dissertation in a particular aspect of psychological research.
Students completing this degree programme will have access to a wide range of careers or the capacity to apply for Masters
programmes at the University of Plymouth and elsewhere. Continuing to study at Masters level will offer the chance to gain
British Psychological Society accreditation, which is not available through the BSc programme. Full details of the programme
and information about individual modules can be found in our Higher Education prospectus or online at www.strode-college.ac.uk.
The course can be studied full-time over one year (usually two days per week in college) or part-time over two years (usually
one day per week in college). Please contact the College for further information - applications can be made online or you may
request our ‘Higher Education’ application form.
