supply chains. As with other large-scale events it is still to be determined
whether the Water Industry Awards May 2021 will be able to take place
as an in-person event. Should it not be possible for us to stage the
physical ceremony, the Awards will continue to reunite the sector at an
online celebration where our 2021 shortlist and winners will receive the
full recognition they deserve.

As the number of entries to the Water Industry Awards continues to grow, we have decided to continue

Initiative of the Year
Nineteen per cent of the water sector’s workforce are women,
compared to 47 per cent for all sectors nationally, according to
Energy & Utility Skills. There are six women water company chief
executives and only one female board chair. WWT, working in
partnership with British Water’s ‘Women on Water’ campaign,
wants to change this by recognising projects across the whole
sector that support women, focus on and harness their strengths
and encourage more women to work in the sector.
