                    Holiday Lights Celebration Parade
                                                             The evening light parade is back and better than

   Friday                                                    ever! Here Comes Santa Claus, right down State
                                                             Street. Join us in welcoming Santa to the

                                                             businesses and organizations are welcome to

           Elf Shoppe Stop
A must stop for children after the Holiday Lights Celebration
Parade where they can buy a special gift for the special
someones in their life. Our Elf Shoppe is designed for children 3
and older, where our Elves will assist your child in picking just
the right item for every family member - without breaking the
Holiday budget, All items are $5 or Less! They’ll even wrap

                                    All ages- under 6 must be accompanied by adult
                                    December 12 is National Gingerbread House Day!! Come celebrate the day and the holiday

                                    your very own gingerbread house from a variety of goodies and treats. We will provide all
                                    the trimmings to make your house one of a kind! Fee includes supplies to create one candy

Santa Calls
Santa is a video call away and wants to talk to the good boys and girls of Belvidere.
He is checking his list twice to see who has been naughty or nice. Are you on the
nice list? All registered children will enjoy this one-of-a kind opportunity- a virtual
visit with Santa himself. Includes: Screenshot of you and Santa, plus a Santa craft
sent to your home after your visit. Once registered, you will receive a Zoom link
for the 3-minute visit, plus, one for a Santa Storytime video. (KH)

 Breakfast with the Grinch
The Grinch is super busy trying to spoil Christmas for all the girls and boys of
Belvidere, but he must eat breakfast. So, join the Grinch for a breakfast where
he will eat      breakfast with you, share his favorite book “How the Grinch
stole Christmas” and lead you in creating some grinchy art. Children under the

The Riverside Ice Arena opened in 2015. This facility is located
within Doty Park at 365 W. Locust Street near downtown Bel-
videre and sits along the Kishwaukee River. It includes one
NHL regulation-size ice rink, the AJ Johnson Warming House
and Ozzie’s Skate Shop. The Ice Rink offers public skate times,
open shoot, ice skating and hockey lessons for all ages and
Hockey Tournaments. Ozzie’s Skate Shop rents ice skates,

 Bobby Rentals
 While at the Riverside Ice Arena, patrons can rent our skate aid “Bobby The Seal”. These skate aids are helpful

SKATING LESSONS
                                         Tot Beginner
                                         A fun learn-to-skate program tailored just for tot beginners! Skill focus will
                                         be to sit, stand, and stop with skates, forward and backward skating, and
                                         one foot glides and stopping. *Parents are permitted on the ice for the first
                                         class to help their child as long as they wear the provided ice cleats.(SM)

           RIVER OTTERS HOCKEY SKILLS & DRILLS
    Ozzie is looking for YOU! The River Otters hockey skills &
    drills is a class for youth ages 7-14 years old. This
    recreational youth hockey class is geared to beginners
    and intermediate players, with a focus on having fun and
    learning to play this great sport. What a perfect class for
    someone looking for extra ice hockey time and learning
    more to improve themselves. Participants must know
    how to skate comfortably. Participants must provide own

                                                            Dance on over to Rivers Edge for our annual Daddy Daughter
                                                            Sweetheart Dance. Memories to last a lifetime will be made
                                                            while you enjoy music, memories, and goodies on this special
                                                            night. Light refreshments are provided. Each young lady will
                                                            receive a corsage and goodie bag. Each couple will have the
                                                            opportunity to have their picture taken by a local photographer
                                                            to remember this special evening. Doors open at 2:30pm and
                                                            6pm to check in and have photos taken.

                         Where you go before you go home
                         Third Base is a cooperative after school recreation program between the Belvidere
                         Park District and School District #100. Caring and trained staff provide a safe,
                         healthy, and fun environment for boys and girls in grades K-5. Our goal at Third Base
                         is to encourage an environment of respect, community, fun, and safely. Activities
                         include group games, homework time, parties, and arts and crafts. The program op-
                         erates until 6 pm on full days of school. Any questions, please contact Sara Schuring

Youth Athletics
LIL PINT HOOPS
This program is a great start to introducing your 3-4 year old to the game of
basketball. Mini basketballs and lowered baskets make this class the perfect
Introductory class for the future basketball player. Participants will work on
dribbling, passing, shooting and listening through fun and creative games and
drills. This instructional class will also include the concept of fair play and working
together. Space is limited so register early! (PK)

                                                    Looking for a class to introduce your 5-6 year old to basketball? You’ve found
                                                    it! The basic skills of dribbling, passing, shooting & listening will be taught
                                                    through a variety of creative drills and games that will be assist them in improv-
                                                    ing at their own pace. Teamwork, participation, and good sportsmanship are
                                                    stressed. Smaller basketballs and lowered baskets will be used to allow each
                                                    child a positive, successful learning experience. Space is limited, register early!

    participate in before the registration deadline. For the consistency, quality, and benefit of everyone involved minimum/
    maximum participation numbers have been established. We must adhere to these numbers and registration deadlines.

Youth Athletics
YOUTH BASKETBALL IN-HOUSE CO-ED LEAGUE
                                               Youth Basketball In House Leagues are instructional with an emphasis
                                               placed on learning the fundamental skills of basketball in a fun environ-
                                               ment. The leagues combines practice time and game play for 1st & 2nd /
                                               3rd & 4th graders. Games will have lenient “officiating” to assist the play-
                                               ers with their skills and knowledge of the game. Lowered baskets will be
                                               used to allow children to have a more positive experience. All partici-
                                               pants will receive a t-shirt. Volunteer coaches are needed and will be
                                               provided with practice tips to assist them. (PK)

                                               tice once week determined by coach starting the week of JAN 3. Games
                                               start at 9am on Saturday.

           BPD Youth Basketball League Information Parent Pick-up meeting will be held at the Rivers Edge
           Recreation Center on Wednesday, January 13 from 6–8p.m. This is a drop in where you will pick
           up all of your child’s basketball information.

                          INDOOR SOCCER SQUIRTS
It may be cold outside so let’s play soccer inside! This program is
designed to teach children the basics of soccer. Dribbling, pass-
ing, shooting, and listening skills will be covered through exciting
games that keep all involved. Participants will develop their
skills through drills while keeping a safe distance between play-
ers. Classes will have a low player/coach ration to ensure safety.
Participants must wear shin guards and are encouraged to bring
their own ball. (PK)

  VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE
This league welcomes recreational, as well as competitive
players. Join us for this co-ed league with two divisions at
the Rivers Edge Recreation Center on Monday evenings.
Season begins January 10 through the Spring. There will
be an exciting double elimination tournament at the end
of the season to crown the league champion. A new
league will begin in June. All games are officiated. Volley-
ball registration forms and payment must be in advance.

Northlands Association for Special Recreation
Northlands Association for Special Recreation (NASR) is a cooperative partnership between the Belvidere,
Freeport, and Rockford Park Districts (referred to as member district). NASR programs are open to any
individual with disability-related special needs such as physical, mental, and developmental disabilities and
persons with mental illness, behavior disorders, and visual or hearing impairments.

Member district residents are invited to participate in specialty/therapeutic (TR) programs offered through any
member district at the resident rate. Participation in Inclusion Services at a member district other than your
own member district, you must pay the non-resident rate for that specific program.

Join us for the Italian sport of Bocce. Athletes can compete in singles
and/or doubles. Doubles teams will be decided on the first night of

CLUB HORIZON - 2021-22 School Year
Club Horizon is all the fun of the summer camp, but all the practicality and reliability of an after-school option. This program
provides your child with fun and reliable care and kids will participate in games, crafts, snacks, and have opportunities to be
active after a long day at school. The program is based on the District #100 school calendar/schedule and will NOT BE HELD
when the district is not in session. COVID-19 cleaning and safety protocol will be practiced. All participants must complete

                                                                           School’s Out Camp
                                                                  A day off from school is a perfect time to get a taste of Camp
                                                                  Horizon for the first time or all over again! Our school’s out
                                                                  programs give your child a safe environment with trained
                                                                  staff who will provide hours of programming including
                                                                  games, crafts, special treats, experiments, and more.
                                                                  Themes this year will center on season-related activities and
                                                                  the group will spend plenty of time outside, including an
                                                                  offsite trip or special on-site activity, as conditions allow.
                                                                  Please bring a sack lunch and drink each day; we will provide
                                                                  an afternoon snack. COVID-19 cleaning and safety protocol
                                                                  will be practiced.

Special Recreation - New Horizons
New Horizons Adult Day Program is designed to help participants become more independent in daily leisure life skills.
Participants can be newly out of high school or older, and activities include weekly community outings, basic cooking skills,
nutrition, exercise, laundry development, gardening, multi-step crafts, and other leisure life skills activities. New Horizons is
staffed at a 1:6 staff to participant ratio and has specific eligibility requirements in order to participate. If you have questions
