Football Trip to Rostov-on-Don – Travel
Around Rostov-on-Don
Within Central Rostov-on-Don most distances are walkable, with
some regard to hilly landscape and appropriate physical
efforts needed. Rostov-on-Don does not have any trams or
trolleybuses. The initial bus transportation system after the
collapce of Soviet Union was doped with smaller private buses
and marshrutka (minibuses). The last category mostly
duplicates the existing bus routes with some minor, but often
useful additions. The sevice is quite frequent and relatively
cheap, that makes it the most popular way of transportation in
Rostov-on-Don.

How to Get to the Match
Football Trip to Rostov-on-Don – The
Stadium

Rostov Arena is situated on the left bank of the Don River.
Rostov Arena’s original design blends harmoniously into the
picturesque landscape. The shape of the arena’s roof imitates
the meanderings of the Don River. The varying heights of the
stands allow spectators to savour not only what is happening
on the pitch, but also to enjoy views of Rostov-on-Don. From
the left bank of the Don, the city looks particularly
beautiful.
FC Rostov, the 2014 Russian Cup winners, will play its home
games at the stadium.

Football Trip to Rostov-on-Don – Getting
to the Stadium

Rostov Arena, completed in the city’s Kirovskiy District at
the end of 2017, stands on the left bank of the River Don,
between Levoberezhnaya Ulitsa and Grebnoi Canal.

There are two public transport stops near the stadium:
Gorodskoi Plyazh and Dinamo Recreational Centre. Buses 39 and
516 stop at both. Buses 109, 112, 122, 133, 135, 201, 202,
203, 204, 205, 211 & 516 and marshrutkas 49, 73, 77, 92 & 278
stop near MEGAMAG shopping centre and the junction of
Vostochnoye Shosse and Poimennaya Ulitsa, a 20-minute walk
from the stadium.

The train stop nearest to Rostov Arena is Zarechnaya,
accessible by train from most Rostov neighbourhoods. Almost
the entire city is covered by train service. From the train
stop, it’s a five-minute walk to the Elevator bus stop, where
bus 516 will take you the rest of the way to the stadium in
about five minutes: the arena is two stops away.

Football Trip to Rostov-on-Don – Getting
Tickets
FC Rostov-on-Don was was established on 10 May 1930, and was
initially named Selmashstroy (Сельмашстрой). They were renamed
Selmash in 1936 and Traktor in 1941. In 1950, the club joined
the South Zone of the Azov-Don group of the Russian SFSR
Championship

In 1991 the club finished fourth in what was the final season
of Soviet football following the USSR’s disintegration. This
was enough to earn them a place in the new Russian Top League.
Following an eighth-place finish in their first season, the
1993 season saw the club struggle, eventually finishing second
bottom, resulting in relegation to the First League.

They currently play in the Russian Premier League

Football Trip to Rostov-on-Don – What
else to see & do
When planning a football trip to Rostov-on-Don it is always
good to know what else there is to see and do in the city.
Here are a selection of the best things which I found using
our sponsor Lonely Planet. Lonely Planet also has maps of the
city, details of all the best pubs, bars and restaurants and
travel information from the city.

Here you can take a stroll along Pushkin Street loaded with
cafes and shops, a bit expensive, but in any case much cheaper
than in Moscow. The majority of the city’s old buildings can
be found around Pushkinskaya and Bolshaya Sadovaya Streets. It
is best to get around on foot; when you need to get to the
left bank of the Don, you can take a taxi or use one of the
public minibus taxis.

Gorkovo Park is also a pleasant place in any season,
especially near the New Year, when it is decorated with a huge
Christmas tree. The Regional Art Museum is also a landmark.

Supporters who will come to Rostov-on-Don will be able to
familiarize themselves with Cossack culture and traditions.
Not far from Rostov-on-Don is the cossack capital of Don –
Starocerkasskaia. The inhabitants carefully guard the way of
life of the Cossacks from the past centuries.

Around Sobornaya/Cathedral Square, next to Budennovsky Avenue,
lies Central Market, also known as the Old Bazaar. Here you
can buy anything, from sausages to fabric.

The beautiful house of lawyer Alexander Petrov at 115
Pushkinskaya Street became the Fine Arts Museum in 1938. Its
collection includes still lifes by the Little Dutch Masters,
genre paintings from the workshop of Rubens, Chinese vases and
jewel boxes, Samurai swords, Piranesi drawings and Russian
art, from the icons of the sixteenth century to the
Peredvizhniki art group of the late nineteenth century and
collages of the twenty-first.

The remains of Matvey Platov rest in the Don Host Cathedral of
the Ascension, which has been given the status of patriarchal
cathedral, along with the Assumption Cathedral in the Moscow
Kremlin.

Football Trip to Rostov-on-Don – Where to
Drink
Yesenin (Ulitsa Pushkinskaya, 57) is another place for beer
lovers. Although it has a great assortment of bottled bears,
try what’s on tap. There are 12 taps altogether, and you can
order a pint or 0.6 pint (300 ml). The pub’s owners prefer
classical stouts, porters, tripels, and IPA. Talkative
bartenders are always ready to come to the rescue and pour
something

Schneider Weisse Brauhaus (Beregovaya Ulitsa, 27) The beer of
this famous Bavarian dynasty of brewers has been made in
accordance with its founder’s original recipe for several
centuries, and personifies everything that people world over
love about German beer. When the Schneider family opened its
restaurant in Rostov, it was a newsworthy move, since this is
their one and only establishment in

Abbey Road Pub (Prospekt Sokolova, 31) has been around for a
long time, and it’s an iconic establishment for the lovers of
music, beer, and decent food.
Beer Library (Budennovsky Prospekt, 7) describes itself as a
club for the real connoisseurs, and not just of beer.
Cheska (Ulitsa Maksima Gorkogo, 151) This noisy sports bar
with its own ambiance is located in the vicinity of Tabachki
restaurant cluster. Its main feature is proprietary brewery,
which offers the visitors three kinds of house beer: pale ale,
dark beer and wheat beer.

Pint (Voroshilovsky Prospekt, 62) The Pint chain of affordable
sports bars is probably the principal venue for local
residents who want to watch athletic events together.

Harat’s pubs can be found in many Russian cities — and the one
in Rostov is a favourite with local expats. (Ulitsa
Sotsialisticheskaya, 141)

Beerhof (Ulitsa Temernitskaya, 80) BeerHof house of beer
incorporates a classical beer restaurant, a sports bar, and a
private brewery that was opened in 1995. People come to
BeerHof to get a glass of their house special beer.

Istanbul to host 2020 UEFA
Champions League final
The Atatürk Olimpiyat Stadı, stage for the famous 2005 final,
will host the decider again in 2020.

The home of the Turkish national team, the Atatürk Olimpiyat
Stadı is the country’s largest stadium, and famously staged
the 2005 UEFA Champions League final when Liverpool came from
3-0 down to beat AC Milan on penalties.

Named in honour of Kemal Atatürk, founder of the Republic of
Turkey, the venue was opened in 2002 and has held major
athletics events – and a U2 concert – as well as being a home
for Istanbul clubs Galatasaray (2003/04), İstanbul Başakşehir
(2007–14) and Beşiktaş (2013–16). The Atatürk Olimpiyat Stadı
is also one of the keystones of Turkey’s bid to host UEFA EURO
2024.

Gdansk to host 2020 UEFA
Europa League final
Opened in 2011, Arena Gdańsk hosted four games at UEFA EURO
2012 – three group stage fixtures and Germany’s 4-2 quarter-
final win against Greece – and is home to Ekstraklasa side
Lechia Gdańsk. Poland have played a number of international
friendlies at the stadium, but the ground has yet to hold a
match in UEFA club competition.

Located in the city’s Letnica neighbourhood, the stadium’s
curved 45,000 square-metre exterior consists of 18,000 plates
designed to resemble amber, which has long been extracted
along the Baltic coast.

Football Trip to Sochi – How to get
to Sochi & How to get around
The Black Sea resort of Sochi has risen to global prominence
after having been awarded the 2014 Olympic Winter Games.
Situated along 140 km of the coast (the longest city in
Europe) and against the backdrop of the Caucasus Mountains,
this resort, now commonly referred to as the “Russian
Riviera”, has long been one of Russia’s most popular tourist
destinations and a truly great sports city.

Football Trip to Sochi – Fly to Sochi
Sochi International Airport (Russian: Международный Аэропорт
Сочи; IATA: AER, ICAO: URSS) is an airport located in Adler
District of the resort city of Sochi, on the coast of the
Black Sea in the federal subject of Krasnodar Krai, Russia.
Sochi International Airport is among the ten largest Russian
airports, with an annual passenger turnover of 5.2 million
people

little as £13.50. With 200 airport VIP lounges worldwide,
including 35 UK airports you can add an extra touch of luxury
to your next trip and make the travel experience a whole lot
better.
Directions from the Airport
The cheapest way to get from the airport to Sochi is by bus:
around EUR 0.2 for a 1.5-hour trip. You can also go there by
Adler-Sochi electric train: the price is about EUR 2.5, yet
the trip duration is 2.5 hours. You should check the timetable
for electric trains beforehand. Route microbus will take you
to the destination for EUR 0.2 and in 1 hour. The distance
between the international airport to Sochi is 28 kilometers.

The stop of buses from Sochi Airport to the city is located
right in front of the arrival terminals. Some buses will take
you to the biggest mall in Sochi, while others can get you to
the train station. You will spend a little more than an hour
on this trip; still, you’ll have to wait for a bus for 15-30
minutes (check the timetable!). Adler Airport-Sochi buses, as
well as electric trains, are cheap: from EUR 0.2 for a ticket,
yet they are not very comfortable. These buses are not always
air-conditioned, so mothers traveling with small children
should consider the fact that their child might feel sick.

Taxis from the Airport
Taxis and transfers from the airport to Sochi are not the
cheapest travel option, but they have some benefits. If you
arrive at the airport at night, you won’t be able to get to
the city by any form of transport, except Sochi taxi. And if
you arrive with a lot of luggage, taxi from Adler airport will
suit you best, as you won’t be able to place your bags inside
the route microbus, and waiting for a bus or an electric train
may take a very long time. The price for taxi from the airport
to Sochi depends on the season and on whether you are taking a
taxi on the spot or booking a transfer online.

Fisht Olympic Stadium is located in the city of Adler,
southeast in the greater Sochi area near the Georgian coast.
It is located on the former Olympic Complex right on the shore
of the Black Sea.

The city of Adler also contains Sochi’s international airport
and has a major train station. The stadium lies roughly 12
kilometres from the airport and 11 kilometres from the rail
station. Bus 57k connects the airport with the stadium, and
bus 57 runs from Adler train station to the stadium.

The daily trains that connect the Sochi area with the rest of
the country (e.g. Krasnodar) also stop at Imeretinsky Kurort
(Olympic Park) station, which lies at walking distance from
Fisht Olympic Stadium.

Football Trip to Sochi – The Stadium
Fisht Olympic Stadium was built to serve as the centrepiece
venue of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. During the Olympics,
it hosted both the opening and closing ceremony.

The stadium lacked a purpose following the Games, but was
selected as one of the playing venues of the 2018 World Cup.
For this, the closed roof had to be opened up, and additional
seating was placed to boost capacity with a little over 6,000
seats. Works were completed in late 2016.

During the 2018 World Cup, Fisht Olympic Stadium will host
four first round group games, one round of 16 match, and one
quarter-final.

Football Trip to Sochi – What else to see
& do
When planning a football trip to Sochi it is always good to
know what else there is to see and do in the city. Here are a
selection of the best things which I found using our sponsor
Lonely Planet. Lonely Planet also has maps of the city,
details of all the best pubs, bars and restaurants and travel
information from the city.

The city offers countless opportunities for sports: mountain
climbing, hang-gliding, diving, sailing, aqua bikes, skiing
and much more. The famous mountain resort, Krasnaya Polyana,
is located 40 km from the seacoast. In

Sochi one can go skiing in the morning and sailing or swimming
in the afternoon on the same day.
FIFA Fanfest – Location: South Mall of the Seaport* * Venue
Capacity: 10,000 – The South Mall of the Sochi Commercial
Seaport is a venue for mass events for the inhabitants and
guests of the resort and is the most

popular site for the City Day celebration.

Sergo Ordzhonikidze Spa Resort – A wonderful example of the
Stalin Empire architecture in Sochi is a spa resort named
after Sergo Ordzhonikidze, head of the heavy industry
authority in the early Soviet government.

Fort Alexandria Ruins – In the very heart of Sochi you can see
from where the key Russian resort began. The small stonework
remains between the sea port and the Cathedral of St. Michael
the Archangel are ruins of the

Alexandria Fort (also called Navaginsky or Dahovsky). The
fort’s first stone was laid in 1838 at the sea shore, at the
mouth of the Sochi River. Later on, it served the military
during the Caucasus War, and later on builders made use of it.

Observation Tower on Akhun Mountain – The Observation Tower on
the Akhun Mountain was built in 1936 by architect Sergei
Vorobyev. It can be seen from any location in Sochi. The
tower, made of white limestone, resembles lookout towers,
which were built in the North Caucasus in the Middle Ages. The
view from the observation deck, which is almost 700m above the
sea level, is the best in the city, making the tower the
biggest attraction both for tourists and for the locals.
Guides tell visitors that the Turkish shore can be seen from
the tower in clear weather.

Football Trip to Sochi – Where to Drink
Bar Cocos offers a satisfying variety of alcoholic drinks,
from Russian vodkas to tequila and Scottish whiskeys. At
night, Bar Cocos becomes a vibrant venue with live music
comprised of the best local bands and DJs playing indie, rock,
funk, and jazz styles.

Bar London – Once a hotel called ‘London’ in the late 19th and
early 20th century, this site attracted Silver Age bohemian
artists like the Symbolist poet Maximilian Voloshin, who
stayed at the hotel at different times in his life. Today, the
location is a bar that hosts some of the best live music in
Sochi. The interior is upscale and the atmosphere rather dark
and classic, but they also offer fun events like karaoke.

Alpine Pub O’Hare – For decent beers and filling and tasty pub
fare, try Alpine Pub O’Hara. They have a good selection of
beers and serve tasty dishes like duck, shrimp, and other
meats.

Dionis Tavern is a great place to get a drink and go for an
evening stroll on the shore of the Black Sea.
Frau Marta serves tasty sausages and good beer at this German
style pub.

Old Boys Pub serves a wide range of homemade alcohol. You have
to take a shuttle or go by car to reach it, but the climb up
the trying road is worth it.

Churchill Steak & Pub is both a local and tourist favorite. It
serves good food, which is mostly British-inspired cuisine
like roast beef and Yorkshire pudding.

Delirium & Boroda is a great place to go for a drink in Sochi.
‘Boroda’ in Russian means ‘beard.’ Their craft beers include
Sochi lagers, IPAs, and blonds.

Harat’s Pub serves Irish beers like Guinness, Kilkenny, and
other European beers.

Football Trip to St. Petersburg – Fly to
St. Petersburg
Multiple airlines fly to St. Petersburg every day and you are
able to fly direct from St. Petersburg from Manchester,
London, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Newcastle and Bristol.

Start your holiday in style and enjoy the experience of VIP
travel – book an airport lounge with Lounge Pass from as
little as £13.50. With 200 airport VIP lounges worldwide,
including 35 UK airports you can add an extra touch of luxury
to your next trip and make the travel experience a whole lot
better.

Directions from the Airport
The exact time tables, bus lines, travel times and fares for
busses from/to the airport can be found here. City bus # 39,
Minibus taxi # K39 and Express city bus #39A run between the
metro station Moskovskaya and the airport.
Take metro to Moskovskaya station (35 RUB in January 2016).
The station has two exits, look for the sign “to the airport”
(or “к аэропорту” in Russian). As you leave the escalator at
Moskovskaya station and go through a set of doors you’ll be in
a long tunnel below the street. Walk all the way to the end of
that tunnel and turn left. As soon as you’re outside, the bus
stop for #39, # 39A and #K39 is right there.

Taxis from the Airport
Never ever take a taxi offered by one of those “helpful” guys
hanging out at the airport! There’s an official taxi desk at
the airport. Its booth is at the arrival area, open 24 hours
daily. Fares vary between 1000 and 1400 RUB (February 2015).

Football Trip to St. Petersburg – Travel
By Train

Travelling to St Petersburg via Moscow by train is an exciting
and interesting journey.

There’s a daily direct train from Paris through Berlin to
Moscow, which passes through Strasburg and Warsaw along the
way. There are also many other direct train routes mainly from
Warsaw. So if you decide to make a train journey from Europe
to Russia – the best (and the cheapest) way is to take a train
to Berlin or Warsaw first and then onward to Moscow or St.
Petersburg. A direct train journey from Berlin to Moscow
usually takes about 24 hours, depending on the trains you
choose, and costs about 150€ one way.

There are also trains from Helsinki, which take only 5 hours
to St. Petersburg (11 hours to Moscow) and cost much less,
however flights to Helsinki of course make this more
expensive.
Football Trip to St. Petersburg – Travel
By Ferry
It takes around 30 hours to drive to St. Petersburg from
Calais. Visitors riding or driving in Russia must have reached
the minimum ages laid down for residents of Russia, even if
they are qualified to drive at a lower age in their country of
residence. https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/travel/country/russia/

Book tickets via DFDS Seaways.

Football Trip to St. Petersburg – Travel
Around St. Petersburg
The metro is undoubtedly the best bet for visitors, and covers
nearly all of the city, with new stations opening almost every
year. It also has some spectacular station architecture.

Overground transport is bewilderingly varied, but not
difficult to use with the help of a few pointers (see
individual pages below), and St. Petersburg’s latest transport
project means that you can even use the city’s waterways to
get around. The only real disadvantage of the public transport
system is the lack of nighttime services, so if you plan to
stay out after midnight, you will have to rely on taxis or
your own two feet to get home.

Fares for all forms of public transport are comparatively low
(around $1 or less for any single journey), but if you are
staying in the city for longer than a week, it is probably
worth investing in a travel card.

How to Get to the Match
Football Trip to St. Petersburg – The
Stadium
Saint Petersburg’s new, super-modern stadium is built on the
site of the Kirov Stadium on Krestovsky Island, which, in its
day, was one of the country’s largest stadiums, with a
capacity of 110,000.

The architect’s vision for Saint Petersburg Stadium was of a
spaceship that has landed on the shores of the Gulf of
Finland. The seven-storey building is 79 metres high.
Technologically, Saint Petersburg Stadium is one of the
world’s most modern arenas. Equipped with a retractable roof
and a sliding pitch, it’s able to host any type of event at
any time of year – even in winter, the temperature inside the
stadium is 15 degrees Celsius.

Football Trip to St. Petersburg – What
else to see & do
When planning a football trip to St. Petersburg it is always
good to know what else there is to see and do in the city.
Here are a selection of the best things which I found using
our sponsor Lonely Planet. Lonely Planet also has maps of the
city, details of all the best pubs, bars and restaurants and
travel information from the city.

The iconic Church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood, built in
the late 19th Century to memorialise Alexander II, is an
architectural masterpiece. Featuring Italian pink marble
floors, wonderful mosaics and opulent interiors, it’s a truly
breathtaking spot.

The State Hermitage Museum and Winter Palace is not only a
magnificent building but also houses a stunning collection of
art – put aside several hours; you could easily spend a day
here and only scratch the surface of its extraordinarily rich
collections.

Catherine Palace, situated about 30km south of the city makes
for a great day out. It is a lovely place to wander around,
however the main attraction is the 1400 acres of parkland that
surrounds it. Take a break from sightseeing and unwind with a
picnic.

The Grand Maket Russia Interactive Museum houses an 800 metre
large miniature display of all the country’s cities and
regions. An incredible spot that’s a must-see.

Nevsky Prospekt – It’s possible to spend the entire day
exploring this three-mile stretch of St Petersburg that was
cut through thick woodland in 1718. From the Cathedral of Our
Lady of Kazan (Kazansky Ploshchad 2; open daily, 9am-7.30pm),
inspired by St Peter’s Basilica, to the countless cafés, bars
and restaurants along the main drag, and just off it, Nevsky
Prospekt is the centre of the city’s cultural and social life.

St Isaac’s Cathedral is one of St Petersburg’s most famous
landmarks and offers wonderful views of the city from its
gilded viewing platform. Statues of the apostles stand guard
at the top of St Isaac’s, while its vast doors are decorated
with biblical scenes. Inside, the cathedral boasts a vast
ceiling painting by Karl Bryullov – The Virgin in Majesty – as
well as St Catherine’s Chapel, a 19th-century hybrid of
Baroque and Classical styles.

Vasilevskiy Island – The largest island in St Petersburg
offers a bizarre selection of attractions, including a pair of
15th-century sphinxes from Egypt on the river side and a
museum of biological oddities (Kunstkammer, Universitetskaya
Nab 3) where you can see the skeleton and heart of Peter the
Great’s gigantic personal servant

Football Trip to St. Petersburg – Where
to Drink
Beergeek – A small craft beer bar and (takeaway) store in the
very centre of St. Petersburg, hiding in a basement just 30
metres off the city’s main street, Nevsky prospect. Twelve
taps and dozens of bottled Russian and European brews with a
special accent on local craft beer and new experimental sorts.

KwakInn – there are a few of these Belgian Beer cafes in the
city. There is one on Vasilyevsky Island and also
Commendatsky.

Palm, another Belgian beer cafe on Bolshaya Konyushennya
street in the tourist area.

Brasserie de Metropole – on same block as Russian National
Library, has a decent selection including their own beers.

Craft Brew Cafe – near Admiralteyskaya station – has a good
selection of beers.
Bakunin – one of the leaders in the craft brewing scene
offering over 20 local beers on tap.

Farsh & Bochka – Beer and Meet are the focus of this bar.
Large beer hall with a choice of 30 beers

Redrum – offers over 20 tap beers on, many from local company
AF Brew

Football Trip to St. Petersburg – Where
to Eat

Russkaya Ryumochnaya No.1 reproduces the
Russian drinking culture of the late 19th
century. A wonderful atmosphere of a
bygone era inside this venue has been
created using wooden chairs and antique
buffets, worn hardwood floors and
lampshades. Dishes are served in thick
glasses, while tea is served in cups with
coasters
Troyka Restaurant combines modern
Russian, luxurious Byzantine and high-
tech styles in its interiors. Walls are
decorated, illuminated even, with
colorful glass and paintings. Guests are
captured by the solemn theatrical
curtain, which unveils in the evening and
presents enchanting live performances.
Literaturnoe Kafe, or Literary Café is
spread out on two floors, which stores
the cultural heritage of the northern
capital in former times. Its menu offers
Russian cuisine and desserts according to
old recipes of an earlier Pushkin time.
Each guest participates in the process of
cooking on an open fire.
Palkin Restaurant was the first to bring
Russian cuisine to St Petersburg, and was
located in the building on Nevsky
Prospect.
Fasol – 17 Gorokhovaya ulitsa, A stylish
café not far from St Isaac’s Cathedral,
which serves traditional Russian food.
About £18 for two without wine*
Suliko – 6 Kazanskaya ulitsa, Lively
Georgian restaurant in a basement. It is
not much to look at, but the service is
friendly and the food authentic. Try the
shashlik and khachapur cheese bread, and
the Saperavi red wine. About £30 for two
without wine.

Planning a Football Trip to
Russia – April News
Planning a Football Trip to Russia? Here is an overview of all
the latest news to help you plan your trip.

New Travel Laws introduced for Moscow
Airports
The Duma (parliament) for the Moscow Region has published
laws “to regulate passenger behaviour” at Moscow airports
during the world cup.

Passengers behaving badly face on-the-spot fines.

“using the airport for accommodation” is now also illegal at
the Russian capital’s two main
gateways, Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo.

During the day, passengers must not “clog the airport” by
sitting on the floor, use lifts or escalators in inappropriate
ways, or listen to music without headphones.

Other rules are aimed at the illegal taxi touts who prey on
newly arrived travellers, particularly foreigners. The Duma
said that the scammers, who have become a prominent feature
at big Russian airports since the collapse of communism,
“created difficulties”.
Alcohol Ban Planned for Moscow
England fans face an alcohol ban the day before any 2018 World
Cup game in Moscow, with authorities taking measures to ensure
the ugly scenes that tarnished Euro 2016 in France are not
repeated at this summer’s tournament.

Russian authorities have implemented a ban on the capital city
that will see the sale of alcohol restricted at bars, pubs,
restaurants, supermarkets and off-licences on the day before
and day of any match.

In total, 12 matches will be affected at the World Cup by the
restriction, although fans will still be able to purchase
alcoholic drinks inside stadia and at official Fifa fan zones.

Ticket Sales Update
About 2.5 million tickets have been already sold for matches
of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which kicks off in 11 cities
across Russia in less than two months, Russian Deputy Prime
Minister Vitaly Mutko said on Friday.

A week ago, the world’s governing football body, FIFA,
announced the opening of the 3rd and final stage of ticket
sales for matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Ticket Sales Update 2
Tickets for the World Cup have been illicitly advertised for
almost 40 times their face value on secondary seller websites,
according to a leading consumer rights group.

Fans heading to Russia risk being denied entry to matches if
they show up with passes bought through a third party,
football’s governing body, Fifa, has warned, saying it retains
exclusive selling rights.

Tickets were on sale in March for as much as £5,618 across
five separate sites including StubHub and Ticombo, according
to Which?.

Russia Fines 539 Hotels For Hiking Prices
Ahead Of World Cup
Russia’s consumer protection agency, Rospotrebnadzor, says 539
hotels have been fined for inflating their prices
in Russian cities that are hosting 2018 FIFA World Cupmatches.
In an April 6 statement, Rospotrebnadzor said the fines were
imposed after nearly 11,400 hotels were inspected in the
cities of Moscow.

Russia Creates New Police Unit to Protect
Fans at 2018 FIFA World Cup
Russian police officers armed with foreign language
proficiency and a tourist-friendly demeanor will patrol the
streets of cities that will host the 2018 FIFA World Cup this
summer. Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev has
ordered St. Petersburg, Kazan and Sochi to create new tourist
police units from a pool of currently employed officers by May
5, the ministry spokeswoman announced Monday. The Russian
capital has had a force of around 100 tourist police officers,
speaking English, French, Spanish and Chinese, patrolling
famous tourist sites since 2014, the ministry said.
