1/32 May 12, 2009The mobile.de vehicle data upload 1 PREFACE 1 Preface 1.1 Obtaining authorisation for the interface If you want to send your vehicle data via the mobile.de interface using HTTP or FTP, for security purposes you need obtain authorisation from our Support team before you send data for the first time. If a transfer service provider transfers the data, this is unnecessary; you can do the setting yourself in the interface settings (see 1.2.3). 1.2 Data Transfer You can send data in the following ways: You can either send a single vehicle file, or a ZIP archive with a vehicle file and n pictures. You may not send individual pictures! If you send a ZIP archive, it may not include subfolders! This means that, prior to being zipped, the picture files and the vehicle file must be saved in the folder where the ZIP archive is going to be created. There are three ways in which you can send your vehicle data: 1.2.1 Transfer by HTTP When you use HTTP to send data, the maximum size of a ZIP archive is limited to 50 MB. Larger files can only be sent by FTP. 1.2.2 Transfer by FTP You can send your vehicle data using mobile.de’s FTP server. When you send the file, the data must be transferred binary and in passive mode. To send it, you need these details: Hostname: ftp.mobile.de Username: [Your username for the Professional Domain] Password: [Password for the Professional Domain] 1.2.3 Transfer by transfer service provider You have the option of sending data using a so-called general FTP account. With this, the transfer service provider that you contract is given their own FTP account for sending data. Clients are assigned using the first column record number (0/A). When they do the general upload, the mobile.de customer number should be entered here. You can obtain authorisation for this method of data transfer yourself, in the Professional Domain under ’Offers’ and ’Interface: Settings’. 1.3 Pictures You are able to upload up to 15 pictures per ad with a maximum file size of 500 KB per picture. mobile.de recommends a picture size of 640 x 480 pixel. The permissible format is JPG. The naming and the allocation of pictures to listings are organized through the field image id (26/AA) according to the following logic: [bildID] 01.jpg or [bildID] 1.jpg up to [bil- dID] 15.jpg. Alternatively, the field internal number (1/B) can be used for the allocation of pictures. Please note, how- ever, that this process will only be supported for a limited period of time. Permissible characters for the fields image id (26/AA) and internal number (1/B) are numbers, the characters A to Z, respectively a to z, as well as blanks, hyphens, and underscores. 2/32 May 12, 2009

If you want to add new pictures to an ad or change existing pictures, you have to repeatedly transfer the
entire data set for this vehicle. Otherwise, already existing pictures that are not resend will be deleted.
Thus, it is possible to delete certain vehicle pictures via an interface transfer. If you want to delete all
pictures of an ad, please enter ”delete images” in the field image id (26/AA).
2 mobile.de data format
The following file format is valid for the transfer of vehicle data inventory to the mobile.de database.
Besides many ’foreign formats’ mobile.de offers a proprietary format for data transmission. This is a CSV-
file (csv is short for ’colon separated values’) where the data fields are separated from each other in the
data records by a semicolon (;).
The text in the data fields must be written in inverted commas (”...”) if the field is marked as a text field, as
described below. If there are inverted commas within some data fields (e.g. ’17” rims’ or ’radio ”Gamma”’)
these must be marked with additional inverted commas (e.g. ’17”” rims’ or ’radio ””Gamma””’). See also
the remarks field in the example data record further below. If any fields in the CSV format are sent empty,
this means the same as ”no input”. An empty CSV file can be uploaded to delete the entire inventory.
The following data fields must be transferred in the order listed below, each one in a single line in the file.
Line breaks within data fields are therefore not allowed; empty fields are not to be taken out; fields marked
with * are mandatory. An incomplete csv-file in which not all fields have been transmitted can occasionally
lead to incomplete specifications.
Mobile.de can change the order and contents of these fields at any time.

The picture ID conveys the information which picture is belonging to which vehicle. Right now, this allocation is
managed by field internal number(B). If field image id(AA) contains a picture ID, this information is prioritized. The
naming logic of the picture files remains unaltered, e.g. [image id] 1.jpg (or [image id] 01.jpg), ..., [image id] 15.jpg.
If field image id(AA) is empty, the allocation of the image is still managed by the field internal number(B).

To ensure that the model is recognised, the actual model name must always be put at the beginning of the model
field. Example: ”A2 1.4” is correctly recognised as model ”A2” when the ”Audi” brand is specified. The entry
”Well-maintained A2 1.4” results in the model not being correctly recognised, so that ”other” would be set for the
model.

Please note that every file transfer will overwrite all existing data! For this reason, please only transfer your
whole vehicle inventory.
Vehicles that have been selected as long-term ads are not affected by interface activity, being neither
deleted nor updated.
5 Semantic tests
The so-called semantic tests check the data for each vehicle for inconsistencies. If inconsistent data is
found, an error message is generated and sent to you according to the mode of transfer. The vehicle
in question will not be uploaded. The significance behind these error messages is that it is in both your
and our interest to have as much data as possible in the database which is free of errors. A user will not
appreciate receiving an offer of a vehicle that is only two years old when he/she is looking for a classic
vehicle. Please find below a list of features that are checked for inconsistencies (this list can be amended
or enlarged):
• The registration date cannot be in the future
• The emissions test can not have been before the registration date
• The emissions test can not have taken place before 1980
• The technical inspection cannot have taken place before the registration date
• The technical inspection cannot have been before 1980
• An employee’s one-year-old car cannot have been registered more than 15 months ago
• An employee’s one-year-old car cannot be a new car
• An employee’s one-year-old car cannot be a classic vehicle
• A classic vehicle cannot have had a registration date of e.g. only 2 years ago
• A classic vehicle cannot be a new car
• A new car cannot have a registration date
• A new car cannot have more than the allowed mileage (500 km)

5.1 Award of Used Car Seals
All vehicles possessing a Used Car Seal will be subject to further checks. If the information entered appears
to be contradictory, a warning is generated. The vehicle will be listed - though without the Used Car Seal.
Check Criteria:
• a Used Car Seal can only be awarded by authorised dealers
• only authorised interface partners are able to successfully import the following Used Car Seals: VW
First Class, Audi Plus, LexusSelect
• a Used Car Seal can only be awarded to cars or vans and trucks up to 7,5t
• the Used Car Seal ”BMW Premium Selection” can only be awarded to vehicles being of BMW make,
having a maximum mileage of 120.000 km and a maximum age of 84 months
• the Used Car Seal ”Mercedes Junge Sterne” can only be awarded to vehicles being of Mercedes
make, with a mileage less then 120.000 km and a maximum age of 71 months
• a Used Car Seal can not be awarded to new vehicles
