address, configuration and firmware are applied to the
new switch. No changes in the network policy or pre-
setup works are required, as the system will see the same
switch as it did before.

Nexans compact managed GigaSwitch V5 IND
family is designed to provide additional flexibility
in network design for many mission critical appli-
cations. The switches have operating temperature
ranges between -25 and +65 °C. Together with
the robust housing, the optional memory card and
the high MTBF value, Nexans industrial switches
are highly reliable.
Full gigabit GigaSwitch V5 IND family has 4x
RJ45 user ports and 2 uplink ports in different
combinations: 2x SFP or 1x RJ45 and 1x SFP
ports. Thanks to PoE+ functionalities different de-
vices can be powered through the same network
according to IEEE 802.3at.
The very compact design of GigaSwitch V5 IND
allows different ways of installations: a snap-in
installation (no tools needed) in standard 45mm
cable ducts, frames, floor boxes or with mounting
kits on walls, under the ceiling or on DIN-rails.
The preinstalled free programmable functional
input contacts with alarm function allow fast and
simple integration of additional simple devices,
like dry contacts, directly in the field.

other Power over Ethernet enabled devices at

Nexans SFP transceivers support digital optical
monitoring functions according to the standard
SFF-8472 and multisource agreement. These fea-
tures give the users the ability to monitor real-time
parameters of the SFP module. Nexans switch
management allows to define “Threshold Values”
for Laser Bias Current, Output Power and Input
Power for each individual SFP interface. By using
these functionalities as an early warning system it
is possible to increase significantly network avail-
ability. The Nexans active systems with SFP slots
could use the monitoring and diagnostics capabili-
ty to calculate attenuation of fibre link.
Nexans SFP transceivers are compliant with SFP
MSA (Multi-Source Agreement) and SFF-8472. All
modules satisfy Class I Laser Safety requirements
in accordance with the international IEC-825
standard.

Nexans device manager NEXMAN provides an
easy, intuitive and comfortable solution for config-
uration, management and supervision of Nexans
switches. Both Nexans industrial and FTTO switch-
es can be connected to Nexans device manager.
Thanks to the activation of optional parameters
during set-up of Nexans device manager, it can
be easily integrated into a central management
system (e.g. SNMPc, HP-BTO/Openview…). In
this case the Device List will be bypassed and the
Device-Editor will be started directly.
Zero-Touch Configuration allows an easy instal-
lation of all Nexans switches. After connecting
a Nexans LANactive iGigaSwitch to a network
segment, the switch will automatically link to its
controller to receive provisioned firmware and
configuration. Alternatively, a layer 3 automatic
discovery via a router can be performed.
Through a master configuration high number of
switches can be configured at once. The master
configuration can be saved for each department,
in case they require different settings.
NEXMAN Client-Controller offers a centralized
way to manage a network devices and users.

Memory cards for switches
Nexans memory cards are redundant encrypted storage
(AES256) for industrial and FTTO switches which always
stores its complete and most actual configuration and firm-
ware automatically. There are different formats: SD and micro
SD for industrial and IND switches respectively.
To make network maintenance processes easier, Nexans
memory cards have unique MAC address fixed on it. Switch
replaces its own MAC address with the one read from
memory card. In case of a switch replacement the SD card
needs to be removed from one switch and installed into the
new one. The MAC-address, configuration and firmware
will be taken on by the new switch from this SD-card. So no
changes in the network policy or pre-setup works need to be
made as the system will see the same switch as before.
