Abholung mit dem Reisebus am Kai und Rundfahrt durch die Stadt
Santander, die auf den alten Römerhafen Portus Victorae zurückgeht,
wovon die zahlreichen, auf der Magdalena-Halbinsel gefundenen
archäologischen Reste Zeugnis ablegen. Der Name Santander erscheint
schriftlich erstmals im Jahr 1068 und die Stadtrechte wurden 1187
verliehen. Wir können die prägenden Gebäude der Stadt, wie den Palacio
de la Magdalena und das große Kasino, den Leuchtturm am Cabo Mayor,
die Pereda-Gartenanlagen, die Kathedrale usw. bewundern und einiges
über sie erfahren. Das Mittagessen nehmen wir in einem typischen
Restaurant mit Kellergewölbe „Bodega“ im musealen Stil ein, wo wir
typische Gerichte aus Santander verkosten; ein Ort voller Weinkultur und
Geschichte. Am Nachmittag lassen wir unseren Gästen Zeit für die große
Kunst des „Shopping“. Rückfahrt zum Hafen.

offers a home to hundreds of animal species from five continents that roam in semi-
freedom and are distributed in large areas where one or several species live together.
More than 20 kilometres of roads cross the park leading to different sites through wonderful
gorges, gentle lakes and eerie rocky figures. Lunch will be served at the park. Next on
the list is Liérganes, a beautiful town which was declared to be of historical interest in
1978, due to its numerous classical works of architecture dating from the seventeenth
and eighteenth centuries, such as its impressive hot springs spa. Liérganes, in addition
to appearing to have stood still in time, is home to one of the most famous legends in
Cantabria "The Legend of the Hombre Pez or Fish Man". Return to port.

Ausgehend von der ursprünglichen Schönheit seiner vom
Karstgestein geprägten Landschaft, wurde dieser Park vom
Menschen auf 750 Hektar eines ehemaligen Tagebau-
Bergwerks natürlich angelegt. Der Park beherbergt etwa 100
Tierarten von fünf Kontinenten in Halbfreiheit, verteilt auf
großflächige Gehege, in denen Tiere einer oder
auch mehrerer Arten
zusammenleben. Die über 20 km
lange, den Park
durchquerende Straße
bringt uns zu den
verschiedenen
Gehegen, vorbei an
wunderschönen
Hohlwegen,
friedlichen Seen und die Fantasie
anregenden Felsformationen. Das
Mittagessen nehmen wir im Park ein.
Anschließend besuchen wir das schöne
Dorf Liérganes, das 1978 in die Liste der
Orte von historisch-künstlerischem
Interesse aufgenommen wurde, denn dort
finden wir zahlreiche Bauten mit
klassizistischer Architektur aus dem
17. und 18. Jahrhundert, wie das
beeindruckende Thermalbad. Liérganes
scheint in der Zeit stehen geblieben zu
sein und ist Schauplatz einer der
bekanntesten kantabrischen Sagen: „Die
Legende vom Fischmenschen“.

Santillana del Mar and the caves of Altamira. Santillana del
Mar, about 30 kilometres from Santander, is a living museum
of a medieval village constructed around the collegiate church
of Santa Juliana. The Tower of Don Borja, home to the Santillana
Foundation, was constructed at the end of the fourteenth
century and is one of the finest buildings in Santillana, belonging
to the powerful lineage of The Barreda family and finally the
fourteenth century Merino Tower, which is the oldest building,
and was a fortified residence for Merinos or overseers of
sovereign interests. The neo-cave is a reproduction of the
original cave of Altamira. The visit will be to the main room,
known as the polychrome room and which has come to be
regarded as the "Sistine Chapel of Quaternary Period Art", the
work dates back 14,000 years. The cave of Altamira has been
declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Lunch will be
served in an idyllic Cantabrian country house, restored so that
the local gastronomy can be enjoyed in a unique setting.
