All the boys were talking about the amazing crowd support and how incredible it was to play in front of packed houses around the country. It was an unbelievable feeling to have so many people behind us. To capture some of that support and have as much green and gold at grounds across the UK and Ireland next year when we are playing on foreign soil would be a major bonus.

For those of you who make the long journey, your efforts will certainly be appreciated by the team. In return for your support, we’re determined to play attacking and entertaining cricket. Be wary of unauthorized ticket on sellers and/or scalpers. A COMPREHENSIVE RANGE OF QUALITY HOTELS A range of hotels are available in all Test Match cities and these hotels have been individually inspected by CATO staff. A summary of these hotels is provided on the following pages. For more detailed information contact your CATO sales consultant or visit www.cricket.com.au/travel. CATO PRE MATCH FUNCTIONS IN ALL CITIES Late afternoon/early evening prior to day one of each Test, CATO will host a match preview function featuring former cricketing greats, current players and/or Cricket Australia team management. CARDIFF 2015 ASHES TEST CITIES AND VENUES CRICKET AUSTRALIA TRAVEL OFFICE Tel: 1300-133-232 Web: cricket.com.au/travel BRITISH ISLES BRITISH ISLES 2015 4 Getting to Cardiff – a very accessible city, Cardiff benefits from excellent road, rail and air connections. London is reached within 2-hours via regular high- speed train services. The city also boasts an international airport with convenient connections to London Heathrow, London Gatwick and beyond and is served directly by the M4 motorway providing fast links by car to the rest of the UK. Our Test Venue, Sophia Gardens – located on the west bank of the River Taff just north of Cardiff city centre, Sophia Gardens is home to the Glamorgan County Cricket Club. Whilst the Glamorgan County Cricket Club played their first international cricket match at Sophia Gardens in 1967, it didn’t become their home ground until 1995 when they signed a 125-year lease. Since then, several improvements have taken place including the construction of the National Cricket Centre which was finished in 1999, the same year that the ground played host to Australia's contest with New Zealand in the group stages of the World Cup. Since 2002 the ground has hosted regular one day matches but as an International Test match venue it is very young. It hosted its first Test match during the 2009 Ashes Series which ended in a draw. The capacity at Sophia Gardens is 15,000.

Getting to Sophia Gardens – located just north of Cardiff city centre, Sophia Gardens is a leisurely walk from most Cardiff city hotels. Buses run from outside Cardiff Central Station every 10 minutes (services 25, 62 and 62a) and drop on Cathedral Road where the ground is a short walk up Sophia Close. For the First Ashes Test, all CATO Exclusive Fully Escorted Tours include daily transfers to Sophia Gardens. Cardiff, or Caerdydd to the Welsh, is the capital and largest city in Wales. AERIAL VIEW OF CARDIFF PIERHEAD BUILDING AND WALES MILLENNIUM CENTRE, CARDIFF BAY SOPHIA GARDENS, CARDIFF Forged on a history of iron and coal mining thanks to the valleys in the north, Cardiff has blossomed into a lively and cosmopolitan city. The city centre, which can be explored on foot, offers a mix of shopping, museums, dining and entertainment along with heritage buildings including the National Museum of Wales and Cardiff Castle. Just south of the city is Cardiff Bay with its selection of waterside restaurants and bars as well as the striking Wales Millennium Centre.

Getting to London – being one of the largest cities in the world, there are a myriad of ways to get to London. By air, there are two international airports, Heathrow and Gatwick. By rail, the Eurostar operates daily from Paris and Brussels plus there are regular trains to/from London from across Great Britain. Our Test Venue, Lord’s – Lord’s Cricket Ground, generally known as ‘Lord's’has long been seen as the 'Home of Cricket' and the game's spiritual 'headquarters', but its importance is not merely historical. In practice it remains, to this day, perhaps the most important single place in world cricket. Its owner, Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), remains the guardian of both the Laws and the Spirit of Cricket, and MCC sides (which play around 500 games a year) perform a key role in promoting cricket - in Britain and abroad. The ground, which celebrated its two hundredth anniversary in 2014, is also the setting for the state-of-the-art MCC Cricket Academy, the unrivalled MCC Library and the world- famous MCC Museum - where exhibits include the Wisden Trophy and, of course, the Ashes urn. The capacity at Lord’s is 28,000.

Getting to Lord’s – Lord’s is in St. John’s Wood, north-west London, and is easy to get to by bus and London Underground. The recommended Underground station is St. John’s Wood on the Jubilee line which is approximately 10 minutes’walk from the ground. For the Second Ashes Test, all CATO Exclusive Fully Escorted Tours include daily transfers to Lord’s and all CATO Travel Packages include a seven day London Travelcard which allows unlimited travel on London’s public transport system within Zones 1-2. Our Test Venue, The Oval – The Oval, located in Kennington, London, is home to the Surrey Cricket Club. The Oval was the venue of the first Test match between Australia and England in 1880, making it only the second ground in the world to stage a Test after the MCG. In 1882, Australia won a Test here by seven runs within two days which led ‘The Sporting Times’to print a mocking obituary for English Cricket which led to the creation of the Ashes trophy. Since then, the Oval has hosted a multitude of cricket matches in all forms of the game with the final Test of the English season traditionally played here. Though Lord’s is considered the home of Cricket, The Oval has played an integral part in the history of the game and visitors to the ground can enjoy one of the best preserved sporting arenas in England. The capacity at The Oval is 23,500. Getting to The Oval – The Oval is located nearby to the centre of London and is easily accessible by Underground, bus or train. If using the Underground take the Northern Line to Oval station. The main entrance to the ground is a short walk away. The ground is also a ten minute walk from Vauxhall tube station on the Victoria line. For the Fifth Ashes Test, all CATO Exclusive Fully Escorted Tours include daily transfers to The Oval and all CATO Travel Packages include a seven day London Travelcard which allows unlimited travel on London’s public transport system within Zones 1-2. Getting to Birmingham – being at the hub of the UK’s transport network makes getting to Birmingham easy. Birmingham airport, located 9kms southeast of the city, is serviced by a range of domestic and international flights. The city centre has three main train stations offering connections to cities all across the UK, and the M6, M5, M42 and M54 motorways are just a short distance from the city centre for anyone who would rather drive.

Our Ashes Venue, Edgbaston – Edgbaston Cricket Ground, home to the Warwickshire Cricket Club, is the second largest cricket ground in the UK and considered to be one of England’s leading cricket grounds, often being heralded as the ‘best ground outside Lord’s’. Established in 1882, the first match was held at Edgbaston in 1886 against the MCC with 3,000 spectators coming to watch the two day match. The first international Test played at the ground was the first Ashes Test of the 1902 Series between England and Australia, and since then the ground has hosted a range of matches including the first competitive floodlit day-night cricket match in Britain in 1997. The atmosphere at Edgbaston for the visiting team is reputed to be hostile with England players often commenting that the level of noise generated by the crowd rivals that of much larger venues. The capacity at Edgbaston is 25,000.

Getting to Edgbaston – while there are regular public bus services to and from Edgbaston, CATO has included return transfers in all Exclusive Fully Escorted Tours and Travel Package for the Third Ashes Test.
